Do you select L and then floor it and change through the gears? Just leave it in drive and pedal to the metal or what ? R3DG3CKO ROB Posted November 27, 2007 Share Posted November 27, 2007 I've always put it in L and then plant my foot in the carpet... push through the gears until ur in Drive and it's much quicker than doing the whole thing in Drive..... don't take ur foot off the pedal and the car will change gear at redline... Homer Posted November 27, 2007 Share Posted November 27, 2007 From the few NA auto's I've had the chance to drive hard... Select Low, put your left foot lightly on the brake, apply the throttle until the wheels are just trying to spin (Should be around 2k rpm). This is the power brake part, but don't do it for too long otherwise it'll cook the trans fluid. When you are ready to go release the brake and floor the throttle (perhaps best to floor the throttle a tiny bit before releasing), when just off redline, shift to 2 with the throttle on the floor, shift to D a couple of hundred rpm before redline again keeping the throttle down. It's not good for the transmission but IME it's the best way to get the NA auto going Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

With proper (aftermarket) cooling the TT's can powerbrake for much longer. Can't remember if they're the same box, but probably the TC is different... Yeah, thats clear mate, I'm just not sure if the auto box or TC are the same on the NA as the TT as I know the TT can handle more than 3-4 seconds of powerbraking with decent trans oil cooling.
