I had a similar situation trying to drive a prototype Frontera up a mountain road covered in ice. It eventually stopped going forwards & started sliding back down, with the wheels still driving forwards :taped:

 

Luckily the cars behind me got out of the way and I managed to steer it into a snowbank on the mountain side of the road.... avoiding the 100' foot drop on the other side.

 

Trust Opel to cut corners not equiping the vehicle with proper snow tyres & studs. They said it was 4wd & the tyres said M&S on them, so that was good enough :rolleyes: Pillocks! They were summer tyres, and only had M&S on them to get out of type approval testing!

 

And then there was the time the road was blocked by Reindeer :search:
