Emigration Application to Austrailia.....

Recommended Posts

When my contract runs out at Visa Im planning on emigrating to Austrailia, hopefully forever, I used to always be so patriotic about this country and hated people that used to bang on about moving away, but it seems this country can kill the enthusiasm of even the hardest optimists.

I have already completed an online stage 1 to see if I qualify on a points basis, which I do, getting the required 120 points and thankfully in my line of work Oz run similar setups to us so should be able to land a contract role out there.

But what I was wondering if anyone could tell me, how long does the application process take from start to finish in obtaining that definite yes you can enter as I need to try and gauge when I should kick this whole process off. I dont want to finish my contract too early but want to try and guage it that I can get the application near on completed by the time my contract is up.

If anyone has any advice or pointers from their own experiences or people they know I would love to hear them.

And any idea how much it would cost to get my Supra shipped out there lol.......:eyebrows:

I would keep my house here in the UK as a base should I ever need to return/want to and rent it out in the meantime........

right fella... from an oz doing this with a mate...

look at a year tops... can be quicker.

you will be looking at about 2-3k for the visa for it in total... always better if you have a skilled job etc... as for a defo yes.. it works by granting you a two year visa then at the end of that they tell you if you can stay.. obviously if you have a job etc it all looks good but there is a chance. You will not be eligible for emergency health care etc until your two years are up and its always a bonus if someone can sponsor you be it job wise or personal wise...

Look at about 1k to ship a car.. but that is going from when my sister did it a year or so ago..

my mate is doing the same at the moment so any questions just ask.... hes a uk citizen and using an agency...

I'm Australian so can go tomoz but the missus is going over on a spouse visa...

any questions just pm me and I will help as much as I can...

2-3k to get the Visa, Yikes, they like to screw hard dont they lol.......meh, its only money and well spent I guess....

Ok, so what if I started it now, and say in 10 month's they said yes, how long would that stand for so I can then find a contract role ? as I doubt I could find a contract role before knowing I can go due to contracts becoming available at short notice only....whats the quickest this would likely be to happen, you said a year tops but what about at a minimum ?

Who is best to apply for this, agency or otherwise as I wouldnt want to screwed over this, any reccommendations, who is your mate using ?

Sponsering, whats involved in that, I know someone in Oz, but was in onvolved in sponsering someone, what does that really entail, could he say he is sponsering me, ie, provide short term accomodation until I get a bit of money behind me to setup myself ?

Does it help if Im taking £XYZ amount of money with me, or does that not matter......

Cheers fella......

Ohhh, I want! That's why i'm planning to do some courses in car bodywork and painting to get additional points to proffesional driving and apply for visa there :) My company (National Express) seems to have some bus bussiness there, so maybe I will be able to move there on work visa.

Me too. I'm planning to do a course in plumbing to take to Canada with me. Though I have family there so can qualify for a family visa, which is a much quicker prossess.

Must.....refrain.....from.....getting.....on.....soapbox !!!!! Poxy government.

I wish you all the best guys, I'm pee'd off with this country too but I do think I would miss it and there is a degree of 'the grass is always greener'.

Just don't like the prospect of the brits leaving and being replaced by the constant influx of eastern europeans.

It this juncture, I will say that I am lazy-ist, not racist. Those that come here to work and contribute are welcome, in fact I would rather they replace the good for nothing layabouts that were born in this country and just sponge off of it. But you guys aren't them :(

lol... yeah its only money! Once you have been granted your visa, you have to have moved to the country within 10 months(I think it is). then you have to reapply...

A sponsor is just that. someone that will vouch for you and provide you with what you need until you are earning etc etc. this last for the 2 year period.

The visa works in 2 parts. the initial application grants you a 2 year temp visa so you can move and work out there. At the end of the two years you are either granted or denied a permanent visa. If your granted you stay if your denied you have to go!

having a job ready and waiting for when you get out there is a big bonus and will definitely help. contact agencies out there and let them know when you are moving and take the rest from there. they are usually very good if you have a skilled job.

I will find out which agency my mate is using in the next day or so but they basically do all the hard work for you!

check out http://www.immi.gov.au thats the official immigration website (Its sooo badly layed out and you have to go round in circles but ALL the info is on there)

As for having money in your pocket... yes it does help as you can invest it in bonds over there for extra points and it also shows that you are able to support yourself until you get a job etc...

Think that covers those questions... any more?

My mate has residency in Aus. I can ask her stuff if oyu like, but she has it coz her bloke is Australian. Not married though, they had to go through some weird process of interviews etc.

Good I say, wish UK did it!!!!!

different rules. I'm Australian and the missus is going over on a spouse visa. they only cost £500-600 and aren't as strict as the other visa's as I will be sponsoring her and they cant really turn me away! lol you need to prove your relationship etc etc.... all very boring!

you will need medicals as well at an approved doctors as stated on the Australian gov. there's loads in the uk, and if you have kids they will have to have one as well, regardless if they are going or not....

lol you need to prove your relationship etc etc

How do you do that in an interview then? surely you dont have to do what i am thinking do you in front of an assesment panel?

richie

 depends if your wed or not. If not you can go on the spouse visa if you have been co-habitating for a minimum of two years and can prove that you rely on each other financially and emotionally and your relationship is set to continue once you get out there.

If you have a wife or a girlfriend already completely and utterly forget it. No matter how nice the place is you go. No matter how good the money is you have there. No matter what crap you have to go through to get back, they will do it just to be near their mums. They may not get the homing instinct straight away but I assure you as soon as they get children it kicks in. I am mixing in the international contracting market and every single guy working away from his home town has a wife back in his home town or a town he met her in. Women are like pigeons no matter how far away you take them they always end up at home.
