A very annoying Problem....... Can anyone help?

All,

I am experiencing an annoying problem, There are a very symptoms to this and i believe they are all related so will explain them individually...

1. When I come to start it in the morning.... IT will start then as the RPM comes back down it will start to die unless i blip the throttle 2 or 3 times then it will go through its warmup enrichment cycle and then its fine.

2. If I'm idling for a period or more than a couple of minutes all of a sudden the AFR'S will go lean and my fuel pressure will start to fluctuate anything from 0.5 bar to 2.8 bar like a YoYo.. To get rid of this i just need to blip the throttle a few times then it will go back to normal.

3. Every now and then when i pull away before 2,000 rpm my fuel pressure will start to fluctuate again between 0.5 to 2.8 Bar and my AFR's will be reading lean and it will really hesitate.. Again to correct this i need to blip the throttle a few times and then its fine...

This is starting to really fustrate me now... Any ideas...

I'm not running a stock ECU. Link g3 with 5.0 bar map sensor...

Can't think its a Fuel Pressure issue otherwise i'd get it all the time...

ICV?

Morning Chap

Funny one this espically as it just started happening out of the blue. You sure you aint changed any fuel pump control when you were playing around and learning the fuel tuning side of mapping :p :D

Nah only kidding the updated map you sent looks fine on the fuel pump control side so could be that there is an issue with the Fuel pump ecu changing from 9v to 12v and the pressure dropping slighty.

A good test is if you bridge b+ and FP in the Diagnostic box this will make the fuel pump run 12v when the Ignition is on. Now this is just a test and should be not be used Permently by anyone but be interesting to see if it fixes it.

As have seen a standard jspec which had this problem once and was the Fuel pump ecu on its way out.

p.s also when your making changes on the map for learning purposes make sure you keep any eye of the graphically view so its smooth matey :).

OK matey.. Promise not been fiddling that much... Theres no rush on sorting this... As my car will be off the road for a couple of weeks tommorow.. As its going into the body shop....

So maybe one night in the week when i get it back we could have a play mate... if your up for that.. may help if you there so you can see for your self??

How easy is it to get a fuel pump ecu on standby?

Im 99% sure its a fuel system control or pressure issue as there is nothing else that can make the fuel pressure drop like you have describe.

If you do as i said above and bridge FP and B+ together in the diagnostic port then see if it does it then

If you intend on running the car a bit with that bridge in place, make sure it's a beefy bit of wire as it gets very hot.

I've never actually tried running the engine with the bridge in, I don't know how it will react.

I've used a bit of speaker wire for the time being.. Just testing at the moment and see how she goes.... Driven 3 or 4 miles and doesent really seem to be any different..

Fuel pressure is slightly higher on idle.

Well Andy popped over tonight so i could take a quick look at it for him. Fixed the starting issue as the throttle stop had been fitted with a different bolt than standard and had worked it self loose so the TPS settings had all changed and think someone had been playing abit too much with the fueling :p

Thought the fuel pressure was dropping as the RPM was going so low the ecu was not picking up a trigger on the crank and cutting the Fuel pump as we did not have that problem once but seems there is definalty a power issue in the car as the fuel pressure starts going funny when you turn the volume up on the stereo as andy found out on way home :rlol:

But forgot how quick his car is :)

Had abit of fun setting up the launch control tho. 0.8bar on launch was funny :D
