CJ
I recently took home the external hard drive from the bar and transferred a load of albums over to my hard drive on the PC. Somehow, most of the ones I have transferred have managed to double up the tracks. Other than going through each one individually, how can I get rid of the doubles? I have a program called "No clone" but find that next to useless TBH.
Pete
Do a file search ordered by creation date? Maybe all the doubled up files are todays date and you can select them and delete from the search list?

Jake
Are all the duplicates in the same folders as the original ones? If so, how are they (the extra ones) named?
CJ
Are all the duplicates in the same folders as the original ones? If so, how are they (the extra ones) named? They are all in the same folder (my music I think) but obviously in different sub folders. They are all listed as tracks within the albums i.e. track 1 xxx track 2 yyy etc but have now doubled to show 2 X track 1 xxx and 2 X track 2 yyy etc. Does that make sense? Jake
So there's nothing in the filenames of the duplicate ones to indicate that they are dupes? You cannot have two files with exactly the same filename in the same folder, so there must be some difference, if they're in the same folder. You cannot have two files with exactly the same filename in the same folder, so there must be some difference, if they're in the same folder. I think my explanation was confusing - it certainly confused me! If I open WMP and look in my library, I get a whole list of albums shown as covers. If I then click and open that album, somehow all the tracks have duplicated and now show 2 X track 1, 2 X track 2 etc. These are then listed numerically so block deleting is difficult. Of course, the problem now is if I play said album, it plays every track twice!
bluecoup
you still got the external drive connected ? this would give 2 files of the same name but in diffrent locations, disconect drive and get wmp to do a new search

MrRalphMan
Have you looked at the underlying 'real' folders on the harddrive and not through WMP? As Jake said the files cannot be named the same, there will be someway to tell them apart. WMP will take the names from the id4 tags, so you will get the same names.
