lockys96
my car wouldnt go above 800 before i fitted a turbo blanket, and wrapped downpipe. now on full chat it see's 900 EGT but never rises above. is this common thing to happen, does the heat get kept in more, and therefore increases EGT? the EGT sensor is directly into the turbo exhaust housing
b_have
The hotter the better Its the temp of the exhaust as it leaves the combustion chamber thats important, once in the turbo, heat converts to motion energy. Ideally, egt should be measured as near to the exhaust port as possible.
lockys96
so would you say that this temp at 900 is good where my sensor is placed?
Sean1933
I would say so yes . It basically means you have less heat loss = less heat energy loss = more power.
kieren1234
That is why people heat wrap, to keep the heat in and reduce engine bay temps.

suprafan72
i was only using 2nd and 3rd, i think it was acheived in 3rd at 1.0bar Hmm thats a litle high mate... I have my manifold/DP heat wrapped..... What ECU? What were your AFR's?
lockys96
its a link g3 thing. ryan will know what the AFR were, as he tuned it very well.
suprafan72
Im guessing 11:5 TO 11:7.. Ryan does things properly..... Im sure its easy sortable... The turbo blanket ad manifold will be raising EGT's.. I guess you will be getting higher EGT's on cruise and idle as well.

Ryan.G
Sounds like something may have changed then mate with all the other bits you have had done recently. As never went above 750c when it left me hence why i set the warning gauge at 800c. Can see a Blanket raising the temps maybe 100c but not 200c Best thing to do is arrange for a checkup Ryan

lockys96
all sorted today, raised fuel pressure, and adjusted the map. made a few more ponies, 523hp fly or 448whp @ 1.4bar. in the garage for winter hide away
Ryan.G
Made that at 1.3bar bud but ran out of time to pump up the boost anymore. But 448bhp at the wheels is enough for the winter Ryan
