Pete
That looks an expensive bit of kit eh? You forget Pete, I am currently unemployed and when I am employed, only earn 30 euro per night! About £100. Not too bad.

danhicks22
Didn't you say you wanted to run a monitor in your bedroom and one in your lounge? If you want them in separate rooms your options are a video sender, a really long cable (probably only DVI will have a chance of holding signal over distance and if you don't have a HD TV then you would need to use S-Video which will look pretty crappy) or a media pc. Dual output graphics card probably isn't what you want.

In the bedroom, I want to run the existing 19" Acer LCD monitor but I have acquired this monitor and wanted to use that in the lounge to watch DVD's and dowloaded files played through the PC. The new monitor and the PC set up will be approximately 3-4 metres away from each other as I can run a cable through the wall. Looking at the new monitor spec, that would have to be a D-Sub VGA cable. Does that make sense? If so, do the options remain the same? colsoop
So you have AGP.
CJ
So you have AGP. Do I? I mean, oh yes, of course I have And having AGP means?
JamesG
So you have AGP. If you're going to give advice, at least make sure it's correct. The card isn't necessarily AGP (although it's likely) - it could be PCI. If CJ is going to replace the graphics card, he going to have to open the case anyway, so he might as well be sure what slot it plugs into before buying a replacement. CJ
We have nVidia 7900GS 256Mb PCI Express Dual DVI output cards for £46.99 inc VAT. Well, if I cannot find anything here, do you think postage to Greece is possible too? Also, what is the longest VGA monitor cable available? That could be an issue to eh? ozz
Certainly is More pics here: http://www.13amp.org/pc/ Loving that! Serious cool setup in a sad geeky way. I'm guessing you are single? The missus would go nuts if I invested that much in kit. Saying that I have a number of PCs networked around the house. A very large gigabyte chassis as my main case but still not in your class. CJ
That length is fine for a VGA cable. Thank you old chap. So, now to find out what graphic card I have and then decide on a replacement eh? Easy peasy
Pete
Well, if I cannot find anything here, do you think postage to Greece is possible too? Also, what is the longest VGA monitor cable available? That could be an issue to eh? Greece postage isn't an issue for you matey. However, we'd need to establish your motherboard does take PCI-Express. So how do we find out what your motherboard is? Well, either the model of the PC if it's a branded build. Or open up the side and look for a model number printed on the edge of the board somewhere, or look at the bottom string of the BIOS boot up screen. Big long string of characters with the model included in there. Press the pause key at this point to write it down.
