marbleapple
Morning all. I recently bought the film Transformers from America and was able to watch it on my TV’s region free DVD player. (Great film BTW) My computer’s DVD drive states that it will only let me change region twice more(?) - (tried to play it on the comp) I was just wondering if there was a way to get around this or if it is possible to buy a region free DVD Drive? If I bought a DVD drive from America would that be region 1 or is the region determined by where your Windows operating system is registered? Thanks

Guest Artermis
there are all sorts of guides on google if you were to search and have a look, just look for something along the lines of region free pc dvd etc etc. you get the idea. one guide i found was this one i havent used it myself, so cant say whether it will work or not, but its an option. of course when messing with the firmware u could naff the drive. JustGav
What you are looking for something called RPC-1 firmware or at least a hack RPC-2 firmware for your dvd drive. I beleive it was in 2000 when the industry insisted that the drives had to have region coding as well as the PCs.

marbleapple
the programme works but there is no change. under old version it staes SB04 and when I open the flash file, the new version states SB04. Not sure if the file is perhaps the wrong one.

marbleapple
do you have a PS2 mate? No, but even if I did my plan is to watch it on the PC (the 5 point surround etc). I have a region free dvd player in the front room but I want to watch films on my PC
Mr. Fish
No, but even if I did my plan is to watch it on the PC (the 5 point surround etc). I have a region free dvd player in the front room but I want to watch films on my PC oh okay then, like someone said, just rip it onto your pc, and leave it on the HD
marbleapple
oh okay then, like someone said, just rip it onto your pc, and leave it on the HD Yes but you can't rip it if it is the wrong region because the DVD drive won't let you! - Hence i'm back to the original problem
