Lewis
Yep, all above board. ...and you are in England? Where it is illegal to own a semi-auto or pump action shotgun which has a magazine capacity over 3 shots? Or am I missing something?
Syed Shah
No its not Lewis. You just can't own a 3+ capacity shotgun on a shotgun license. But you can with a FAC.

Andy-No-Knee
Thanks again Ian. When we moved over to the Enfield L85A1 (SA80) from the FN FAL L1A1 (SLR) 7.62mm it was a sad day for me, I loved that SLR. Many will argue that the replacement was lighter, the ammo was lighter so, you could carry more and that the re-coil was lighter too.....but, for me, the SLR was a proper rifle with a nice balance. I guess I'm getting old I read that we had to go to the german's (Heckler & Koch) to produce the upgraded L85A2, was this better than the original ? I had left the service before the A2 came into operation. Yep HK did do the upgrade, but BAE owned them at the time so they were promoting it as a 'British' company. The A2 is head and sholders better than the A1, which was pants to say the least. The A2 still has its downsides and there are rumours that the Yanks (who led and then pushed the NATO change to the 5.56 round) are looking at moving back to the 7.62 as the combat reports from Iraq say they can fill a man with the 5.56 they use (which is a lower velocity than ours) and they still fight, but one hit with a 7.62...... and they dont get back up. Which will no doubt create much head scratching in the MoD and lots of 'I told you so's' from the Gravelbelly's. The Barrett 50cal is a fun toy as well. Have used it to 'ventilate' APC's before. binkatt
No its not Lewis. You just can't own a 3+ capacity shotgun on a shotgun license. But you can with a FAC. Thats basically it, they class it as a firearms rather than under a shotgun license. We basically had to give the gun a purpose so to speak to be able to get it, i.e. .22 rabbits .270 deer that type of thing. And before you ask cannot remember the reason we gave now lol, still its good fun at a clay shoot or pidgeons

Chris Wilson
I had to have a brand new Remington 1100 restricted, years ago. They just crimped the chamber extension, all very crude. Now I want it de restricting and putting on my FAC. Not sure if the chamber extension just unscrews, maybe with loctite needing killing, and can just be replaced by a stock one, or if it's more involved. Anyone know of a site with a Remington 1100 shown broken down as available parts? Cheers.
damientt
I've got a semi-auto shotgun, a side-by-side shotgun, a Ruger .22 semi (with silencer) and a 28ft lbs air rifle all on the same FAC. I had to get plod out to approve the land for the .22 but, apart from that, no hassle at all. I use the semi-auto shotgun to shoot rats after dark at a local battery hen farm ... great fun at this time of year. A black Supra TT, a black Soarer TT and an arsenal of guns. What more could anyone want????
