Aerotop Dave
No, but if you decide for new ones all round I'll have the other three! (AVS wheels, right?)
green_dragon
Just for reference.. Got the wheels back yesterday, £150 for both to be repaired and painted. Plus £95 for a new front tyre (nothing to do with the accident), removing and re-fitting both tyres, and balancing them both. Not too bad really. Chris Don't think I'd trust my life on a repaired wheel, it would always be at the back of my mind when pushing it on a corner.
suprarob
Hi Chris were did you get them repaired ?
MichaelG
Nightmare, nothing worse than bending a rim. I did it to an 18" Rondell i had on my Escort Cosworth and then found out you couldnt buy them anymore ! Good place up here has some massive laser machine that straightens slightly bent wheels though..........ran straight on the balance machine afterwards as well......superb. tbourner
I eed to find somewhere that can straighten a bent alloy down here.
Nic
Is there not a danger of having internal stress fractures in the metal after bending a rim? I thought new rims are xrayed to make sure there are no internal fractures, then again I could be talking cr*p
tbourner
I think repaired rims need to be x-rayed as well.
Nic
I think repaired rims need to be x-rayed as well. Oh didn't realise that, in that case I guess it should be okay.
MichaelG
As far as i know this machine does all that before and after they straighten it........good machine........it should be for £19k ! lol Michael
