Bank card readers at home

You only need the Natwest one if you want to add a new payee. I guess it stops would be thieves from adding themselves to your payee list and b*ggering off with your hard earned cash. You can still do inter-account transfers and pay existing accounts etc. Good job I think...

The only gripe I have is that they're not solar powered, so I have to pay for the batteries when they run out! Another sneaky bank tax me thinks. Wouldn't be surprised if they own half of Eveready ;)

Yeah - Barclays sent me one of these. Pile of arse. Half the point of internet banking is so I can access it anywhere. Now I can't.

It's one more thing that hackers will have to get round, and hopefully avoids keypress reading as a mechanism, which is good, but I can't help but wonder how much it now absolves the bank of any liability if your account does get hacked......

There's no reason why you have to use the same PIN for everything. The reader recognises which card you've put in.

If you use a laptop, just keep the reader in the laptop bag. It's not a security risk without your card and your PIN because it's only a random number generator.

Or ask for another one and keep one at the office...
