I guess it stops would be thieves from adding themselves to your payee list and b*ggering off with your hard earned cash. You can still do inter-account transfers and pay existing accounts etc. Good job I think... The only gripe I have is that they're not solar powered, so I have to pay for the batteries when they run out! Another sneaky bank tax me thinks. It's one more thing that hackers will have to get round, and hopefully avoids keypress reading as a mechanism, which is good, but I can't help but wonder how much it now absolves the bank of any liability if your account does get hacked...... Plus I'm not convinced having the same pin for everything now is more secure. If you've got that they have access to online banking, buying in shops and cash machines!! ivan Posted November 17, 2007 Share Posted November 17, 2007 There's no reason why you have to use the same PIN for everything. The reader recognises which card you've put in. If you use a laptop, just keep the reader in the laptop bag. It's not a security risk without your card and your PIN because it's only a random number generator.
