XS Power FMIC. What are they like?

Afternoon all.

Now ive seen a thread about this before but i cant find it when searching because the word 'XS' is too short... LAME!

Anyways. Im after a FMIC for when the TT transplant starts next month. Ive seen the xs power one on a few of my friends nissans and they seem to work really well for the price. But... they've only been going up to 300bhp ish. Im looking to go over 400bhp. Will this fmic do the job or can someone reckomend a good one that won't burn a hole in my pocket? ;)

one last thing, will the hard pipe kit obstruct the standard air box as some members have mentioned that i should keep the standard air box but ive looked at a few pics and the pipe gets very close to where the airbox would sit!!!

I want a FMIC - but i think the 250 quid job lot oon ebay from xs power is a bit too cheep.

Ive opted to stay with my SMIC and spend on getting hard pipes done for it - im opting for a race alloy rad, about half the cost of a FMIC - so it will still look good through my myshed bomex.

dont know how much my custom pipes will be - had a ball point figure of 100 notes.

If you do go for one, can you let me know what they are like?

Don't bother with them, every one I've seen has been pretty poorly designed using a cheap generic core. The hard pipes can cost a lot of money to get made up and I've yet to see one made to clear the stock airbox. If you really want an FMIC just get yourself a proper one like the Greddy or HKS 2 row, perfect fit, no fabrication, far better design and you can keep the airbox. It'll probably work out cheaper in the long run.

Oh and there is a good reason the forum doesn't index 2 letter words.

I have an XS Power FMIC. The pipework from the turbos doesn't clear the stock airbox, so I was suffering during the warmer months with some heatsoak issues, but now the colder air is here ;). I'm about to resolve that by fitting a max feed airbox which MVP sell to cure that.

I've not had any overheating issues, my aircon works fine, I drove it to Le Mans & back including having to tow a broken down TVR with no issues. It's been on the car now for a year, so it's now into it's 2nd winter with no signs of corrosion.

Yes there are better products out there and if I had the money I would have bought one of those nice Greddy 2 rows or 3 rows that Envy do with the hard pipe kit that bolts straight on.

Yeah good point! Why does the forum not accept 2 letter words? Its a total pain when trying to search for UK spec information. Sorry bout the hijack Nwo

lol fair point. If you juiced up the flux capacitor with a few more dilithium crystals would it be possible for it to recognise just 'UK' as a 2 letter search option?

I had a Blitz fmic on my Golf 1.8T. With standard smic the intake temp was 34 deg. It dropped to 22 deg with the fmic and then to 14 deg with meth/water injection. It depends on how cold a day it is too. That day was 15 degrees outside. Does anyone know what intake temps are with a standard supra smic?
