marbleapple
I quite like the buy a shitter and dump it idea. No come back then. Should think there would be since you would own the car and therefore responsible when the council decide to crush it for you (and charge you for the kindness). The go slow idea did work in the petrol crisis and it would get people's attention. Just drive down one stretch of motorway for 20 minutes with 20/30 cars and see the jams build up. - not sure if it is illegal to drive slowly? Pete
You'd be banged up as a potential terrorist before you even got chance to lock the car. In fact they are probably reading this now and getting the cells ready. *waves* Why lock the car? This is the problem, everyone is too afraid of what "they" will do to you. We're all stuck having it shoved up our ass and afraid to do anything for fear of the repercussions.

You're not paying attention. DON'T put the car in your name! I'm just not sure how legal it is to drive a car that's not in your name. If your policy covers you 3rd party to drive anything you're covered surely?
supradibbs
We've lost a long tradition of protest. keep doing it and they will have to do something, probably put it on some other tax but why the hell should we bend over and take it, time we took a leaf outta the French book
RedM
Maybe someone can furnish us with details of where Golden Brown will be appearing in public and we can drive there with him but very, very slowly.
NeoFuture
why dont we just get everyone on the forum to drive on the M25 at 30 mph for a whole day collect the recipts for fual and send em to the PM, top grear and fifth gear sure it would get media attention

If your policy covers you 3rd party to drive anything you're covered surely? whose name would you put it in? you have to sign the form and the seller has to acknowledge the change of use. you could say your name is erm gordon brown and have all crap cars registered to him and then park up. can you imagine the outcome? RedM
200 Supras on a lap of the M25 at 30mph. Can we do it?

lexsum
it is such a common name you could probably pull it off give his edinburgh address, who would know when buying a car cash (obviously you would not do anything illegal in the car) just deliver it to his london address as a gift!! TonyP
200 Supras on a lap of the M25 at 30mph. Can we do it? In my experience. If we get more than 2 supras together on the same stretch of road we struggle to keep below 90, never mind 30.
NeoFuture
but imagine that 200 supes in a convoy at 30mph imagine passing a junction and not letting anyone in to the inside lane to leave said m25 i would do it that would sure cause some issues and wouldnt be illegal. (would need to check the min speed for a motorway which i think actually is something like 35 mph)
T2 MSW
Using a car to do a go slow or drive somewhere to protest is a bit pointless, all you are showing is you have the money to waste a load of petrol on a trip that is not really going to get you anywhere! We would be better causing a nucence in another way, ie keeping petrol receipts with rediculous costs on and posting them addressed to the PM. Thousands of receipts for over priced fuel should get some attention.

Protest shouldn't be just about getting change. It's about directly voicing your opinion. If people aren't seen to be unhappy then the Govt. just assumes we are all okay and carries on. Just getting seen is enough. One million people marching against a war in Iraq achieved nothing. Although the images and the fact that we did it stayed with Blair for the remainder of his term of office. It was noticed. People wrote about it. It served a purpose. We would be better causing a nucence in another way, ie keeping petrol receipts with rediculous costs on and posting them addressed to the PM. The fact that you are buying it under a false name is most likley an offence. Then you are impersonating a person (another offence), then you will be driving it when you are not the registered owner (another offence) - Gordon Brown would likely have you done for driving his car without his permission! If people want to protest you should find a way to do it legally and cost effective. Meeting on the motorway could also be quite a good club thing (lots of photos etc of all the supras)

Thats very true, but a convoy will just line the pockets of the gov for one and Mr Shell. All for the Gov to say, hmm they are not very happy, point noted - where else can we shift that tax to, perhaps congestion or road tax. What we need is someone that owns a petrol station that Gordon Brown fills up in. They can put a 200% stealth tax on fuel for idiots that contribute to running the country. Do like the French and bring the country to a standstill. Or if all Supra owners left our cars in our garages or on the drive for 1 week I recon the government would loose out on about £1.25M in tax....
