DaveK
It has much more internal memory as well as firmware updates i would imagine so should be faster, you can update firmware of the existing N95 which apparently does speed it up, i will try it for myself this weekend. P.S. That WAS highly entertaining I'm not entirely convinced by that. It has much more internal memory (8GB) but that's primarily for storing music / vids etc (i.e rather than a memory card). The user interface of Symbian phones is often slow, if they are split across multiple processors (which N95 is). Because then, the UI runs on the second processor - and it might not exactly be a Cray supercomputer...... My N95 has the latest s/w and I don't find it particularly blinding. You just tend to get used to it.
R Black
It is just a Smart phone, however what you want is'nt that far away, i still think its the best mobile i've had, yes its slow but it is very talented & small.
Scott
It actually has more internal system ram as well though (reading a review just now) Double the amount in fact. Has 128mb now instead of 64mb. Its looking promising. Scott =op

Kev.O
I really like the N95, though I know a few people that have complained about the phone randomly ending the call half way through. Has anyone else experienced this?

Scott
if you are with o2 take the sim card out and give it a light buff. The operators have said its a known fault but they don't know whats causing it. Scott =op

Scott
I must be one of the lucky ones. I've never had any issues but i haven't upgraded the firmware either. I know that a lot of the phones have had problems with the slider being a bit shakey but mine has been fine. All the issues are covered in the warranty anyway. I know its a pain but at least there is an answer. Hopefully the new one has all the wrinkles ironed out. Scott =op
MONKEYmark
on radio last week it was saying if you wait 2 months for the french version of the iphone to come out you can use any sim in it,as in france its supposed to be illegal to lock a phone to a network. sister is always getting new phones.she payed £350 for the sony erricson p990i and now she just got herself a ipod phone on contract.i normally buy her old phones and she said i can have her p990i for £90. I know that a lot of the phones have had problems with the slider being a bit shakey but mine has been fine. It depends when you got it, mine was purchased on the day of release so had the original firmware - this wasn't great, memory issues when using the internet or camera, locking up, switching itself off and so on. Friends purchased them later and the phones came with the firmware I'd upgraded to - the current version is pretty stable. The main design fault is the earpiece speaker, it falls out of it's mountings and rattles when it produces sound, you have to suck / blow into the hole until you hear it click back in. Muffleman
Not had any issues with my N95 yet either, but wish I could get rid of the big bar at the top of the home screen that displays the time\signal strength etc. Or at least make it transparent ? And also, do you have to have all the icons\calendar\WLAN scanning off on the home screen ? Doesnt seem very easy to tinker with
Scott
No you can turn them off. Not sure exactly how to do it but its in the tools/settings menu. Scott =op

supra_surj
To save battery turn 3g and wlan scan off. To help run phone smoothly make sure you exit windows properly.to check whats running in background press and hold menu key and exit whats open.this is the main reason it resets. Muffleman
How do you turn 3G off mate ? Does it show that I haven't had time to play with my phone !!!
Thorin
How do you turn 3G off mate ? Does it show that I haven't had time to play with my phone !!! You set it to make a connection only when needed rather than always available. Settings->Connectivity->Packet data...? Bluetooth eats battery usage too. DaveK
Cheers lads, icons etc all gone. any idea on how to make the bar at the top transparent ? I might be wrong - but I don't think you can do that without editing the theme. You can get PC s/w where you can mess about with the themes and change the icons / display etc. I did it ages ago - but it's pretty time consuming, and the s/w to do it was..... not the best. You set it to make a connection only when needed rather than always available. Settings->Connectivity->Packet data...? No. That's changing whether the UE establishes a packet data connection at power up, or only when you're (e.g) browsing the web. It doesn't change whether your phone is using 3G (e.g. for voice calls). Go into Settings->Phone->Network and change Network Mode. Edit : You might find it makes less difference to battery life than you think.........

Not so much for battery life, no. If there is no data, the n/w will still send the UE to idle even though it's Attached / context activated.
