Im sure its safe to say his daughter goes out with her friends and they dont just sit in a leafy lane somewhere, they go in to town. Lets assume they go shopping so there must be some reasonable shops nearby which means people. So she's carrying an £800 phone and txting friends. Its designed to be noticed and it will get noticed by the wrong people. The muggers will take on a 20 year old bloke for their phone, a 14 year old will be nothing.

And so she gets mugged and having just got over being bullied she now has an inbuilt fear of going our with her friends, all because you cant say no.

I know you are gone now so ta ta, but if you have to give your child a mobile make it something cheap as the chances are they will lose it on the bus. If an adult cant keep hold of one what chance does a child have?

Help

Daughter wants an I Phone don't want to get an O2 contract and pay silly money.

Advise please on where to get an unlocked I Phone

Now I dont want there are better phones on the market etc etc etc because i agree

Bear it in mind it is for a 14 year old daughter and it is not an option for a different phone if you know what I mean.

Thanks

Everybody is untiled to their opinions i guess, so here's mine.

If you had taken note of his request,

"Advise please on where to get an unlocked I Phone"

No parent is going to take kindly to having their way of parenting criticised, so in doing that you asked for the retort IMO,

plus you don't know all the facts! so what if he is in a position to buy an expensive phone for his daughter!

It then degenerated into what he quite rightly termed "bullying" defence's of what if, or get mugged do not really justify the school room mentality that developed, some of you should really take a look in the mirror and your posts sometimes!:taped:

Yeah, A young girl with an Iphone is asking for trouble, But maybe the guy doesnt know what the hell they are or how people will kill or hurt other people for one :(

Is there no diffrence giving a kid a psp when they 1st come out?

Some of you people are a bit harsh on noobies asking simple questions.

couldn't agree more. Chavs that come on here get less of a hard time and its those sort of scunthorpes we want to keep out of this club:Pling:

They can very easily be unlocked. There is a software unlock for them now (used to be hardware only)

Not sure of the cost but i think its around £20 for the software.

The phone is bollox though. Avoid it at all costs. Get an Ipod Touch instead.

I've heard they're pretty crap when it comes to phone calls. ;)

The most worrying thing is the sound quality is terrible. Not only during phone calls but actual playback.

The Ipods are absolutely superb with sound quality so i'm not sure what to make of it.

As usual its a gimmick. All hype. The Itouch looks great though.

The user interface on it is nice - it's the reason I liked the ipod touch.

But, I wouldn't want to be sending texts with a touch screen. And recently, I have started using more of the features on my N95 and I wouldn't want such a simple phone.

Plus - I'd have to actually pay for it, whereas my Nokia's are free.

Let me get something straight....

Iphone - phone that plays media

Itouch - media player with no phone?

Yeah. Iphone is like ipod touch, but can make phone calls.

Itouch is just the new gen ipod - touch screen. Advantage is screen is a log bigger for video.
