Pete
I've tried Green Tea from bags before and it's been pretty undrinkable. Whilst in China we got taken to a Chinese Tea Ceremony where they sold the fresh leaves so I brought some back. It's lovely! Basically the leaves are dried and rolled, you get a pinch and stick it in hot water for a bit, strain it and voila... you can use the same leaves all day too. Quicker and nicer than traditional tea. Does anyone else drink weird teas and actually feel any of the benefits they're meant to promote?
bmx1lew
when i was in china i went to a resturant and ordered there house tea, was a flower tea, any way the house tea was 30 years old, and apparently gets used over and over.

miko_supra
I've tried green tea and weren't too impressed like you say with English stuff. But I've also tried and liked Turkish apple tea. its pretty much warm apple juice
Supragal
I've got into fruit tea recently so I'm not drinking milk all day in normal tea/coffee. I always liked the idea but found them really watery and weird. Now I've discovered that it's certian ones that are weird - anything hippy like, such as camomile, pepermint, that sort of thing. The strawberry ones are ok. Then I discovered Typhoo fruit tea. Clear winner, it actually flavours the water and the cherry one is yummy. Ark
I like the way those dried leaves unroll and get more effective in a brew after a few re-uses, like four or five cups. Edit: I had a Chinese mate in halls at university - he used to get all his brews from home, but you can also get them at specialist shops here and there. Schtuv
I got hooked on ginger tea while in Siam - helps calm the stomach, too I brought back some jasmine tea from Shanghai - it was good, but you can't beat a proper British cuppa! Charlotte
I love peppermint tea, I could drink it all day. Funnily enough my mum came back from China last week - she was in Shanghai (maybe at the same time) and when I went round there she was drinking green tea! She always drinks it all the time when she comes back. She said the hotel where they stayed had a menu up for fruit/herbal teas with the slogan - 'teas to cool your hot soul'

Jasmine tastes ok, but apparently has no medical properties, so I didn't bother with that.
turbonut
I drink loads of herbal and fruit teas, no choice really as black tea and coffee give me migraine Green tea varies in strength according to the brand. Also on its own its...well...foul. With some flavouring is better, jasmine is good, lemon gives it some bite and takes away the weeds flavour http://www.twinings.co.uk/GreenTea/ Have you tried Roobosch?? south african red bush tea, a lot like black tea but without the bitter tanins, caffeine and much milder. http://www.tetley.co.uk/Redbush Or go fruity http://www.twinings.co.uk/Infusions/ Lxx
Nick
I drink it all the time at work, mostly because there's little alternative. Most of the guys drink gallons of this cold green tea, I forget the brand. Horrible stuff, tastes like wood flavoured water ! Nic - There's a shop not far from me that sells green tea and sweat potato icecream
Tee from China
There are hundreds of 'teas' here in China, green, black, yellow and of course the flower teas some taste like sh**te (probable make from it too ). I'm drinking a special herbal TCM tea to desolve all the gallstones I have and save me having to have keyhole surgery at a cost of 1000 rmb for the tea versus 8000 for the op! Hope it works!!! robin
I have never managed to find a place in england which does the proper green tea. When I was last in shanghai I bought back a load of the leaves and some jasmine tea.

Having lived here in main land China for 5 years it is an amazing place - amazing that the police do nothing except have long lunches and use police cars as the own personal/family transport, amazing that nobody bothers with traffic rules/laws and you would be really disappointed as the don't have any SUPRA'S here(only in HK) Most foreigners drink Twining's or Stassen Ceylon Pure here as the green tea is at the best .....horrible!
