DamanC
Sorry for adding to the constant collection of number plate laws but it looks like things may have changed again. Last weekend I was pulled for not having the right size number plate (it was 40mm shorter and 10mm shorter than the 'import size') fair enough, but PC knobjockeyisuckmysargescockwithextrahelmutcheese insisted that import plate sizes no longer exist and that you have to have the full uk size. After looking about there was a website that explained the legalities of the import plate size etc, but that has now expired. So, can we still have import size plates? turbonut
Thats a relif I imagine as long as the letters/numbers are the right size they can't really complain - you could always offer to shove his head in the hole to check the size if he says something.... Also does the fact i have e.g. a do luck front bumper mean i cannot accomadate a standard size number plate? Exactly. I'd imagine that as it was UK production car you can't use that excuse. If it say's AND then it's not OR, so sadly it's game over. I'm in the same boat, mine are legal bike size. That annoys me though. if it's legal for a bike, then why not for a car? It can clearly still be ready by cameras etc

IDO
I got pulled over a wile back due to my front plate and got a ticket.. (there is a thread on here somewhere... 9th of october/ on the ticket they put my DOB in the wrong part so the offence happened in 1978).. I have a legal "import" number plate, with the Legal standard code in the corner.. i paid the ticket as i couldn't have a day off to go to court and prove them wrong, but i did talk to the plates creators (craigs plates) the dvla and the local plod, and they all said it was ok.. jacko
Ive just ordered a new plate from craigsplates, so hopefully all will be ok now. Got a nice £30 fine at the wkend, even tho it was made perfectly to the DVLA import guidelines, except the BS number

Purity14
Apart from the thread time warp; i got pulled for my plates the other week and told to change it.. They are Import sized but with the text on one line, but without a space. (Font is correct size, but just without any spaces) Plod said the shape of the plate had to be more of a rectangle apparently? wtf? Did'nt bother changing them though, I suppose I should get around to it.. one day..
