o2 Sensor

Apologies if this has been done before, but trying doing a search for "o2" - you can't!

 

After seeing another thread in relation to poor MPG I think that I may need to get hold of a new o2 sensor for my 93 J-Spec TT. Although I have seen this helpful explanation of what it is:

I still have a few questions:

 

1) Is this an easy DIY job? or should I just ask them to do it when it goes in for it's MOT in a few days?- My skill level is that I'm reasonably technical and did do two years as an appentice mechanic (albeit 15 years ago!) before becoming a pen pusher!

 

2) How long should it take to replace it?

 

3) The guide above mentions the diagnostics port - now, my computer skills are right up there!, so what do I need to be able to plug in to my port and have a look? hardware\software etc

 

4) Does anyone want me to ask Nic (Import Pimp) to start another group buy?

1) It is very easy to change an 02 sensor.

 

2) It took me 15mins to change mine.

 

3) Don't know.

 

4) It won't hurt.

For question 3), the answer is "a multimeter" or "a bit of wire". That's about all that interfaces successfuly with the diag port on these cars
