DaveK
You compared apples with oranges I'm afraid. Comparing a 720p vs 1080p screen. SD = ~475,000 pixels 720p = ~1,000,000 ~2:1 1080p = ~2,000,000 ~4:1 What this means is that for every 1 SD broadcasted pixel, the Pioneer has to display that 1 and 1extra that it "guesses" at. The 1080p has to "guess" at 3! 720p is all you need at the moment, unless you are using a PC/PS3. So the Pioneer is a good bet for the person that wants to just watch the telly. But the panny will be great if you want for the other 2 things. It is a bit unfair though to expect a 1080p to as good as a 720p with an SD source. I know that 1080p will look worse with SD, and most of my signals are SD. But I do have a PS3 so did want to see HD as well, and still thought the Pioneer was better (with the same source). Maybe I should summarise : I'm buying the Pioneer.

DaveK
Well, I tried to wait until after Christmas - and everytime I was at home I realised that there is nothing decent on TV anyway (despite having all the sky channels) and hence buying a new one was a waste of money. Plus - the LCD I have is actually pretty good. Unfortunately, I don't spend all day at home - I spend it at work. And I was bored - so I've just ordered the PDP-428XD. Plus a wall mount. Plus a stand. They will be delivered tomorrow. If it's not as good as I think it is, I'll be selling an almost new Pioneer plasma soon - hardly used....... Yes, that's it, the PZ70-700 difference is purely in the speakers, if you don't use the TV's speakers there's no point paying the premium!! Still have fun with what ever you choose... DaveK
I'm wondering whether mine is going to turn up at all. I got mailed the invoice (in fact the same invoice was mailed to me twice) - and it's for somebody completely different who is buying a 23" LCD TV with wall mount. I've checked with my credit card company that I've been billed the correct amount (I have) and the company assures me I am being sent the correct TV (they read the order back to me) - and even said they would mail the correct invoice but it's not turned up yet. I won't be happy if I find out tomorrow that I spent £1800 and have a 23" LCD TV to show for it.........

PZ70 vs PZ700 = so few differences you won't notice...but make sure you're looking at the right thing.... PX70 = 720p PZ70 = 1080p PZ700 = 1080p + a few extra's and better built in speakers. HTH Ah gotcha, so does this (taken from Panny's website) : V-real Technology For Ultimate High Picture Quality. 1080p Digital Processing Chip-Set 1080p Digital Re-mastering Processor just mean its some sort of pseudo 1080p ? TBH I love me TH42PX70 so not that bothered, but just wondered Sure you're right mate, just wondered what the 1080p 'Chipset' is

But I am just guessing.
