I loved West Palm Beach. Going back next year :)

I can't remember if it was PGA Blvd or the Beeline Highway but, it's one of them roads which is like a drag strip for miles and miles (long and straight) I WISHED I had my supra with me for that road.....never mind the actual strip :D

Lets demonstrate and drive down a motorway really slowly just like the lorry drivers did a few years ago. Not only would it be achieveing some sort of political goal but it would look great and we can all go to the pub after!!

(or we could just forget the first part and just go to the pub)

Blair made that illegal mate, the driving slowly deliberately in a protestation manner (not every day on the m25 mores the pity). The pub thing I am sure they are working on still :)

At least they do not have to pay around 70% in taxes. If people over here would stand up for themselves insted of getting ass raped by the GOV then we would not be in this situation of paying the GOV to run our cars.

No, they just get 'raped in the ass' when it comes to getting medical attention.

Poor mites. It's 8p a litre in Saudi

Yeah lets make fun of the Americans because they are whining about the cost of fuel. At least they do not have to pay around 70% in taxes. God save the Queen, she needs our money.

I'm sure the Saudi's are saying much the same thing about the yanks mate.

Ahh probably not actually, unless they want to be on the receiving end of some "regime change".

Beeline I think, good road :)

They won't catch us when we speed up though ;)

Quite. I'd rather pay as I go for medical attention rather than paying through the nose on taxes for everything else...

Gaz.

Interesting statement but how do you propose we stand up to the goverment exactly ?, I see what your saying, but they make the rules, its a bit like living at home with your parents, they make the rules, if you dont like them, then you know what you can do.....move out ;) :D

Doesn't quite work like that though. Here in Holland you have to pay privately for medical care that is utter garbage and they still tax you through the nose, teeth, and anywhere else they can. Whoever invented the saying you can't get blood from a stone never met the dutch taxation system.

I think you will find that anyone who has a decent job in the states gets medical coverage that puts the NHS to shame. As far as the people who do not have jobs or an income, Oh well, don't get sick or have an accident, I could care less.

Boston tea party comes to mind. Revolt, it might get messy but change sometimes is.

I'm not talking about people without jobs. I'm talking about people with very good jobs being refused medical treaments (by their insurance companies) for cancers and subsequently dying.

I watched this.

I have to say - I watched it with a total open mind because I know lots of things like this are propaganda.

There were physicians that were employed by insurance companies standing in congress stating that they had signed forms to basically let people die, for bonuses.

Watch it, it's a real eye opener.

Unfortunately people in the states are human too so greed will get in the way. It is not a perfect system but then what is.

You say you are happy to pay 70% in tax at the pumps so that you and the rest of the country can get free healthcare, fair enough I guess but what about all the extra billions that will be raised just by the price of a barrel of oil going up. Will that end up being spent on better healthcare ? Or will it end up padding the pockets of ministers who love sticking their noses in the public trough to siphon out your hard earned cash to fund their lavish lifestyles. These same ministers who on the whole have never done a hard days work in their lives and most likely never even held a real job. The same ones who will get a gold plated pension that will never be lowered or taken away. The same ones who are not looking out for their constituents, they are looking at staying in office for as long as possible to benefit themselves not the public that they pretend to care about.

Sorry I am rambling on now. :)

Politicians will do that regardless of any political system that is in place. From Burma to China to the EEC to the USA, they are all on the make. It doesn't matter WHERE the money is raised from - even Mugabe can fund a lavish lifestyle and his country is damn near broke.

I actually jumped in half way into this thread so really I'm not making any point, only in general terms.

I think ultimately I'd like to have a choice.

You mention The Boston Tea party which is a fantastic example of making a stand and I can't see that people in America have a choice.

I'd hate to be turned away from a medical insurance company because I had a pre existing condition (which they will find even if it's as small as getting antibiotics for a yeast infection) and then find out I couldn't get emergency treament.

And it's not just greed of individuals at insurance companies - the government started it all.

109.9 yesterday BP Ultimate..:( That's over 8p in 4 months. :( £61 for just over 3/4 of a tank.

I don't do many miles so it doesn't hit me in the pocket so bad, but I'd hate to have to commute.

Also, I thought the Government was trying to promote Green. These better quality fuels are greener, better burn, less emissions etc. so why aren't they subsidizing the better fuels?
