terribleturner
**Beware, Long story Ahead** So tonight my old man goes off to the bank to get some money out after paying the carpet fitters today. Unfortunatly when he left the bank he also left £300 sat in the machine. Now i know what your gonna say, "how can you walk off and leave £300 sticking out the machine??" Well i did £50 a few years back and it's quite easy. But anyway, so he gets back and my mum goes spare. Loads of shouting and swearing and the girlfriend is sat in the other room not knowing where to look. He's so mad he throws his wallet and mobile (breaking it). After a while the girlfriend and i leave the house and head down the road to get some food. While im out in the cold im thinking, "now i could always give them the money out of my own pocket and say that someone handed it into the local pub??". Yeah right, you find that sort of cash and you hand it in? I don't think so. But my dad is a god fearing man and his mum died the other week so i thought yeah he needs a little luck and he'll go for it. So off i go and get the money, and we start back. I get in and start the story of how we went into all the pubs and eventually found it blah!blah! blah!, also that i gave the bloke a fiver to say thanks blah! blah! blah!. My mum asked several times if i had or was it from me and i played the "i've never got that much money" routine. Nearly started laughing several times and did my best to not show i was lying (So did the girlfriend), but finally they both went for it and my lie had worked. Unfortunantly i hadn't counted on my dad calling the damn pub did i? Damn barmaid. They're still not happy that they lost the money but have to face it and take the hit. I on the other hand now have £300 burning a hole in my pocket. So there's 2 morals, one is never lie as you'll always get found out, and the second is money is evil, it's trouble and we rely on it too much. Keith C
If you leave the money sticking out of an ATM it apparently pulls it back in after a few moments.
Pete
I thought that too. Has he checked the balance? I guess if someone was behing him he's had it.
terribleturner
Yeah i was told it did too, plus it's in a nice quite village. But there are like 3 pubs surrounding it with plenty of people walking past. Hopefully it has, but his account says it's been taken out. Then again a deposit wont be updated till Monday i reckon, so fingers crossed still.
tepster
The machine should retract the money. Once i drew 100quid out the machine and when i went to take the money i dropped my wallet.I picked it up and then reached for the cash.I turned and walked away and to my amazement there was only 60 quid there. So i stormed into the bank and caused a huge scene about how i had been robbed by the ATM. Well..... as it turns out,due to my fannying about when dropping the wallet the machine was in the process of taking the cash back in.I had managed to take 3 of the 5 twentys hence why i had only 60 quid. The worst bit was yet to come..... the bank had no record of me withdrawing ANY money from the machine!! so if i had just kept the 60 i would have been in profit and the bank would have been none the wiser. instead they did a manual debit from my account for the 60 i had taken. Never tried it again, but u may find ur 300 beans are safely back inside the machine and not in some locals beer fund!
