mate, dont laugh, use some toothpaste on it. use it mr miyagi style (wax on, wax off) in circular motions, and wipe it off. dont use too much either. done that loads of times and most of the time it works. but it does depend on how deep and where the scratch is....

Eh torrent it and use the serial that came with your legit CD !

Wont work will it? As i need to use the proper disk as its going on a brand new pc with no operating system whatsoever?

You should never be buying retail boxed, always OEM.

Scan.co.uk , microdirect.co.uk , aria.co.uk etc will do OEM XP Home for probably £40-something + vat, or pro for @£78 + vat

If it's just the disk that's scratched then you just need to replace the CD or borrow off someone else. Nothing dodgy about that but you'll need to replace with an OEM disk if your key is OEM, which it will be if it came with the machine (and it will say OEM Software on it).

Or just download a torrent like someone else said.

There is/was an XP 9-in-1 disk on the torrent sites. Work's lovelyly.

No, it's £10 too expensive.

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=487054

£82 incl vat.

and you probably don't need Pro either, Home edition is £52 incl vat:

I just love this site. So that's £100 ish saved in 2 mins for Pro or £150 ish for home. Cracking tips fellas. Guess I'll be using those sites in future. :)

I take it you have a licence (the serial) that came with the CD, you are paying for this NOT for the CD, just borrow or download a copy or windows XP. Load it and when asked enter YOUR serial !

Why cracked serial? Just take one from your computer case, it HAVE to be there (on your old PC or something?). Then dl XP pro and install it using this key you was using before  Instalation disc have NOTHING to do with different CD keys. If you have proper key, you can install XP Pro from any disc you wish.
