marbleapple
A big rig carrying stacked crates of live turkeys was stranded on the normally busy highway.
bigcol
Wow now thats what i call a fender bender, if that happened here the motorway would be closed for months as the (ahem) highways agency couldnt handle it:search:

AndyT
EEK!!!! If visibility was that bad I'd be pulling off and parking.
hoff
Thats bad Surely the traffic must have been crawling though with 2 ft visability. Never good to here a little kid has died though.
lust2luv
Doesn't really surprise me - many (most?) Americans seem to have no clue about keeping a safe stopping distance, regularly driving literally 3-4 feet from the SUV in front (that affords no forward visibility) at 80+ mph. Bear in mind half of them are on their mobiles / drinking / eating at the same time.
firepool
They say keep a minimum gap of 2 seconds from the vehicle in front but obviously this must be increased to compensate for road/weather conditions. Only thing is, on motorway driving when all lanes are flowing at same speeds, if i leave a safe gap some twaz will move into it, thus taking away your nice safe gap
Animal
EEK!!!! If visibility was that bad I'd be pulling off and parking. I'd possibly be parking then pulling off. Sorry, the tone wasn't low enough

Bear in mind half of them are on their mobiles / drinking / eating at the same time. I can vouch for that. What is the point of them enforcing low 55mph speeds while allowing phone use, tailgating and eating a 3 course chinese with chopsticks while at the wheel?
