We had to get a full set of steelwork drawings out to tender on monday. It was for a huge college building and took 60 A1 drawings to set out. That meant I did 12 hours lasr friday, 12 hours saturday, 9 hours sunday and 12 hours this monday and the stuff got emailed at 6:30pm.

I had to take tuesday off cos my eyes were shot staring at computer screens for that amount of time.

36 hours!

We had to finish a movie before the deadline. All went good till

a freelance guy showed us his work he did and we all had to do it all over again.

What a nightmare it was. On the way home I fell asleep in the car and nearly crashed into a 40ton truck :( Luckely we all got out without physical and car damage.

Last time I was in Tokyo on business, I did one day from about 9.30am to 3am. Even the "short" days were from about 9.30 to 1am, and that was for 7 days a week for 5 weeks. There was only one day in that period that I didn't go to work.

I've never been so tired as I was when I flew back that time.

Surely these kinds of hours are illegal? There are laws regarding breaks, maximum number of continuous hours worked and the like so if you let your companies abuse you like that then you are fools to yourselves.

You wouldn't expect much career progression if you didn't though?

Some jobs it's just unavoidable, and I think the laws are in place to give you a way out if you are feeling exploited..the occasional stint doesn't hurt anyone though.

Just want to add, I'm not griping at all about my day, I really enjoyed it. Just got me thinking. I feel lucky in what I do, especially compared to what some of you have to put up with!

I do it for the money, not for the love of the job or because I'm forced to.

I'm not sure if this counts but when I was going to taiwan on bussiness I had to fly via hong kong and even after having 8 of so bottles of beer on the plane I couldnt sleep. By the time I had arrived at the hotel I had been up for 36 hours. I then went straight to the office. By the time I had gotten back to the hotel and ready for bed it had been about 45-46 hours since I left the house.

I know its not strictly a single working day but it was all on bussiness.

When i used to work at McDonalds (snigger) I done open untill close for 6 dcays in a row which is 7 am untill 1 am so 18 hours a day 108 hours in the 6 days that i worked.

Was expecting a huge pay check but it was kind of false economy as i spent the next week off ill because i had worn myself out. :D

I do 12 hour days (at least that's what my time sheets say ;)) six or seven days a week, so I'm used to working pretty long hours, but every now and again a 17 or 18 hour night shift will happen due to a fook-up.

Unfortunately, I always seem to be on these shifts when I haven't been to sleep in the day so end up being awake for well over a day. Usually seems to be when it's bloody cold or pissing it down as well. :(

I usually work between 10 and 12 hours a day during the week. At weekends it can be up to 15hours.

Longest is from 7am till 4pm, home for an hour for a shower then back at it until 10am the next morning.

I don't get forced to do it either, I like my job and I love the money. Sometimes my boss makes me have a day off because he's scared of getting into trouble :D
