PS3 reliability issues vs Xbox 360

Guys has anyone with a PS3 had any reliability issues with their console?

Myself and a mate of mine are keen Xbox players and to be fair probably use the console every night, but over the past 12-18 months the Xbox has failed no less than 5 times and has had to be sent back each time! Which is just unacceptable.

With this in mind, has anyone had any similar experiences with the PS3 as I think I am going to get one now in favor of the 360 but I would be well p*****d off if it had similar failure rate issues.

I dont think it has, but anyones experience would be helpful.

touch wood, ive had my 360 since launch date, and its crashed only once! never had a problem with it, and i probably play atleast 25 hours a week on it (i have no life :()

do you keep your 360 in cool place? not sitting on other things like dvd players and stuff that would heat it up.

agree also ps3 games dont charge you to play online as for 360 they do, and the 360 doesnt have grand theft auto:)

It does have GTA Jazz.

The online is only £39.99 for the year and that's a bargain I think. I'm not anti Sony, but I much prefer the 360 at the moment. Cheaper games, a far superior online gaming interface and a shed load more GOOD games to select from.

No idea on PS3 reliability but I would imagine that its pretty good.

My first 360 died after a year and was sent back. I then received a new 360 which is still doing fine. Also have one for my son which is working fine at the minute. We play between 10 and 20 hours per week (I spend more time on it than he does becasue of his early bed time etc). You do have to make sure that they receive plenty of ventilation as this is what typically kills them.

My brother Cable has both and I am impressed with the PS3 (especially Blu-ray), but there just aren't enough games out yet. I think this will always be the case as the development time required to code for the PS3 is a lot longer than for the Xbox 360.

It was released as the ultimate console along with full HD support

Full HD support would be HDMI the original 360 dosnt have that so now people have to shell out another £300 for something that the original should have done. Plus £80 for a wifi! You can pick up USB wifi cards for laptops for £10!
