Decat, lamda sensor, A/F question

Ok, go easy on me here if im talking out my arse, in which case just explain to me how it really is.

On a modified car with a straight, one piece decat with no lamda sensor. How does the stock ecu monitor and regulate the air and fuel. Or does it just go to a standard map.

Thanks.

The lamda sensor is before the first cat. There's a second one on UK cars in the 2nd cat pipe but not on J specs. The sensor you remove when you take the cats off a J spec is a cat temperature sensor which you can just tie up out the way. I believe you can get away without the 2nd lamda sensor on UK cars, but you're better off using one of Chris Wilson's pipes which have a hole for it.

Ok, so on a car with a one-piece decat pipe and no lambda sensor part to it. How does the ecu work then? Or is it just a temp sensor and it doesnt really matter? Yes its a jspec.

Anything to do with your RAC report? Remember, he'll have a guide on a uk spec if anything..

The lambda on your car will be on the turbo elbow afaik, so you should be able to see it under the bonnet - just looks like a metal plug going to a wire going to an electrical connector.

HTH,

Exactly, it's just a cat overheat sensor that does nothing apart from light a warning light if it gets too hot. The lamda sensor is just before the first cat like I said.
