Life After Death

What does everyone think?

Personnally I think there is something but it will not be like you'd expect as I am more inclined to think the intelligent higher (insert what you believe) brought about the 'big bang' and tuned everything from there. Otherwise what is the point in concious and intelligence?

Maybe a bit to deep for 00:03am

Oh please, some nutter that never took her meds, let me guess she came from America?

As for ghosts these chain emails about ghosts showing you spooky pics are NOT real. Ghosts are a great part of peoples imagination.

Whilst I do agree with you in general terms, you do seem very certain of yourself... can you back up your statements and disprove every bit of evidence they have?

(the opposite arguement falls at the same hurdle)

No, and neither can the people that claim there is an after life, there is NO hard evidence! apart from people saying that they have been to the after life.

So it is something that cannot and probably NEVER will be proven, to me it is a load of rubbish it my opinion but if someone does believe in it then fair enough I wont think any less of them, people have their beliefs thats what makes us individuals.

Hmm feel I should post this linky Now I am a scientist always have been always will be however I still think consciousness itself carries on and that at the end of it there is something. Otherwise what's the point? :)

Edit:- Should add also it is heavy reading ;)

Good site, in a nutshell LAD is only heresay nothing more nothing less, it is on the same level as an "old wifes tale"

Also at the other end people who believe in Adam and Eve basicially they are just saying we come from a bunch of inbreds. Just my opinion.

you been to wales as well? :D

I sit on the fence with this one. I don't believe there is life after death but I do believe in spirits after experiencing and seeing them.

The mind is a powerful tool but there are some things that just cant be explained...

i belive in us turning into spirits or going to hell and heaven, example go visit henry the 8 place thats haunted

Completely agree stayed in my God Fathers Chateau in the south of France when I was younger there was serious poltergeist activity. Also my sister who was 18months at the time sat bolt upright in the middle of the night and started speaking French.... God Father said that she was saying the attic and a lot of other stuff.

To cut a long story short we found a military uniform in the middle of the attic on the floor nicely folded with a lock of hair tied to a piece of string suspended above it. Oh and a mirror lifted itself off the wall and smashed the only piece of it bigger than a pea had a signature scrawled across the back...

Creepy

Life after death, ghosts, even religion... ffs I can't believe that in this day and age people still believe in outdated, non-proven hearsay myths fantasy and mumbo jumbo gobbledegook to explain something just because it's unexplainable in rational, common sense or easy-to-understand terms. Can't you just understand that, like lots of other things, we just haven't sussed everything out yet?

Science and modern day thinking has explained millions of things (repeat MILLIONS) of things in the last few hundred years that previously were 'explained' by scripture, myth and outright lies. Yet here we are in 2007 and there are still millions of people on the planet that believe in pretty much the same nonsense as primitive man ie god(s), life-after-death, ghosts etc. They forget the fact that as each day goes by, our understanding of the world increases, chipping away at the the Great Ignorance upon which is built religion and superstition.

It beggars belief [sic], it really does.

The probability section of that site is very interesting even a complete atheist or agnostic would still get a 20% probability of life after death.

After all scientists recently had two options admit there was a controlling factor in the big bang due to the particular 'Fine Tuning' of certain quantum particle physics and loads of blah blah stuff I wont go into the only thing they could do is say well in that case to make up the 1 to 10 to the power of 1000000000000 odds of the universe forming the way it did we'll say that there is a multiverse that when the big bang happened pretty much an infinite number of universes were formed. Now if you add in the very real scientific probability of parallel universes you're begining to look at huge numbers.

The science side of things interests me more and also how even darwin himself said 'If somone can find something that can't evolve by random mutations my whole theory falls apart'

Bring on the bio molecular engines which would be impossible to form via evolution because if one component wasn't there the whole thing doesn't work.

If you read this to the end I give you this :guitar::thanku::trophy:

In my opinion there is no such thing. How can there possibly be life after death? Break it down to what humans are.

Basically, you die, you get buried and the worms eat you. End of.

But it is difficult to comprehend how there can be "nothing" anymore. Terrifying really.

unfortunately religious beliefs and after life's and ghosts etc. are scientifically impossible as they only exist in people's 'consciousness'.

Scientific fact is something that can be proven; and proven time and time again.

After-life's are very old teachings of people's non understanding of death. It is very hard for the human mind to accept that once you die your brain also dies and your consciousness dies along with it. ie. once the oxygen and blood fails to keep you alive then there is nothing to support your life. You will then go into rigour-mortis as each part of your body dries up of oxygen and blood and then you are finally 'dead'.

This is science fact and it is usually hard to accept.

This is why nice little sotries of how you don't feel pain and you live forever in a nice big white fluffy cloud in the sky comes about.... this sounds so much better to people and they therefore accept it much better.

From my understanding of history, religions came about due to people's non-understanding of life; and after-life's came about due to peoples non-understanding of death.

:yeahthat:

It's very frightening for people to think like that, therefore people like to believe in a higher force at work or afterlife.

The world would be a very depressed place if everyone agreed with the 'lights out' theory.
