Guitarists - value my guitars please!

Hey all,

I'm about to put up some of my guitars for sale (ebay/local papers/mates etc) and with 1 guitar in particular I'm struggling to figure out what it's realistically worth.

It's a 1991 Japanese Fender Stratocaster squire, in cream with white pickguard/pickups etc. It's in O.K condition (few dings etc here and there, and a bit of wear on the fretboard)

Now, it's not a SQUIRE STRAT, it's a Strat squire. I have no idea what difference this makes, but it's basically an early squire. On the headstock the Fender logo is the biggest, with stratocaster written underneath, and a tiny squire on the end of the headstock.

Here's a picture - but please PLEASE ignore the hiddeous pickguard on it!

On a side note - I have 2 custom built guitars that I completed as projects - 1 was an Aria guitar with new paintjob, pickups etc, and another is an unknown brand but nice graphics and coil-tapping ability:

They both play, but need setting up as I have no idea how to do it really.

Are they worth anything? £50/£60? more?

And the strat? £100?

Thanks guys/gals - really appreciate it!

yeh right! artistic my a*se.... lol...

TBH the finish on the black Les-Paul style isn't great - it's got a few dings in now because of the ultra-soft paintjob it seems to have.

I know what you mean - I built them as projects (didn't cost me TOO much originally) but they're just gathering dust now, and I suppose every penny I get could either go towards 1 really nice guitar, or to my Supra fund :D

on the Jap Strat - I'm a little confused as to it's value because it is earlier (and better built too!), not a cheap Mexico/Korea/whatever version, but only 2nd best to the USA guitars.

But I don't know if any of the above would have an affect (or effect, i don't know) on the value of it. I think it was sold to me as the same colour as the one Eric Clapton used. :)

Hello mate, your Fender is either a Squire or a Strat. Japanese Fenders are better made than the USA one's to be fair, i had a Malmsteen Fender Jap made, build quality is better, Malmsteen's main guitar is a Jap one. Story goes that when Fender were hitting trouble the USA head of the company went to the Jap factory and was in tears because they could not match their build quality. It is worth bearing in mind that a lot of pro guitarists have deals with companies etc and use guitars that look like originals, however many are ghost built in Japan or Korea, for instance Slash Les Paul was not made by Gibson it was ghost built in Japan, and just looked like a Les Paul, any way serial number is most important, if you can find that on the headstock or on the fretboard that will be your best way of getting a value, my guess is that it will be worth about £200 or so.
