leave him alone, so a what if hes trying to strike up a conversation with a female member of the group, and anyone who feels intimidated by someone who is sending such pm to their other half just shows insecurity, I for one wouldnt be too bothered.

I disagree. The female members on here are surely here because it's a car forum, dedicated to the kind of car they own (even though there is a lot of non-technical chat). Why should they expect to be "hit on"?

As somebody has already mentioned - if he's a sad lonely git then join a dating site. It worked for me.

Fully agree, the other half can handle herself as well as anybody I know.. My concern was for the other people that he has been randomingly messaging... It isn't a dating site, it is a car site... sure people can have a laugh, but there is a level. Besides the only one that can hit on my other half is RobSheffield, he is allowed :)

I can see the headlines now:

"Women hit on in male dominant car site shocker...."

Unless he was obscene or rude in these PM's id say we'er all overreacting a bit here, put thy pitch forks away!

Ive had GF's who have been into their cars, they were always getting PM's from blokes on sites, its going to happen. They either just said sorry not interested or deleted it.

No one was chased through the streets or burnt.

Although it sounds like they were not that offensive - I still think it's pretty pathetic that he only wanted to chat to the girls. And offensive or not, I don't really think it's acceptable.

Just because other people do it doesn't make it acceptable. These days, I really think a girl should be able to join a car site without expecting PMs from random guys.

I agree with DaveK and Gav on this one. You must be really sad to get on an internet forum and select all the female members and start sending them messages!!

If it had been just one in particular then that is almost understandable, but to have a go at them all is sad beyond belief!!

What I am more upset about really is that Mrs H wasn't sent a message......:D

The same reason why girls get hit on when they are out with other female mates for a drink, out shopping, in the gym just trying to work out, walking theor dog etc etc....get my point? - whatever the environment women will get hit on whether virtual or real.

That makes it OK?

I'm not saying its ok or its not ok - just saying it happens, therefore if it happens on a VBB people shouldnt get so strung up about it unless you take as much offence when it happens outside the VBB

I wonder if he'd go and chat to all the women if he turned up at a club meet?

Well it shouldn't, but it has and some of the people it has happened to have taken offence. It's been dealt with, time to move on people.

From what I've been told by female's about the PM's there was no malice in them, just a guy trying his chances.

It was the wrong thing to do on this forum, however, we have had many people hook up through this forum I think. I mean me and Rob Sheffield did :D

ok back to seriousness, women will always be chatted up its one of those things. If anyone thinks their partner doesnt go out and isnt chatted up by a guy or girl once in a while they need to get with the program to be honest.
