Blue LED Dash Conversion Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

I've just put my TT into storage for the winter and I've decided to have a go at the blue dash conversion while it's off the road.

Can someone out there please give me some advice on the type of LEDs to use (???). I've had a look on the Maplins web site and there are a variety of blue LEDs .... diffused, water clear lens, etc.

Not sure, I got mine from eBay and I think they were around 6000mcd and they do the job.

Well, the ones that are lined up with the holes properly do anyway.

You've just reminded me that I really should get around to sorting my heater control out. :)

Also I would go for diffused, no sign of "milky" blue :p

I've done conversion on 3 cars already, 4th on my way, so you can belive me :D

I've done 17 conversion (so neeer :p) and I use componentshop too :D I just use 7000mcd (i think)

Haha no mata, not at all. For heater controls clear standard one is better, but if you do speedo conversion too, diffused will cover bigger angle, so light is distributed more even :p

Yeah, only joking mate. You're dead right about the diffused for the speedo, I've got the EL dials in mine, so never even thought about that. :)

any pics of your el dials mate? i am fed up with trying to get the light right in behind the dials

Just taken these with my phone, so they're a bit cack but give an idea of what they look like in the dark. They're the reverse glow Speedhut ones.
