Driving on the m-way this afternoon we (my partner and me) felt the need to call the police to report a nutter in a BMW. He come speeding up behind us in the fast lane. I wasn't exactly hanging about so he must have really been going some. I knew I'd have no chance (nor the inclination) to try and outrun him but I couldn't pull over straight away. FWIW it was a new style 5-series. He started flashing his lights and I knew I had to get over and slow down as we were approching a build up of cars slowing for a 50mph average speed section. I couldn't brake as he was so close so I let off the gas and slowed a little that way. He dropped back then raced up again, still flashing. Eventually I had to brake for the 50 zone. I still couldn't pull across as the middle lane was pretty full. Once at 50 and just passing a car in the middle lane, the BMW pulls onto the sort of central reservation bit (drainage ditch and no mans land) and pulls alongside! If this wasn't bad enough he was veering towards me as well. I planted it to get ahead of the middle lane car and dived for the middle. He came across so fast I had to swerve into the slow lane. He then did two more 'feints' towards our car before swerving back to the fast lane and tailgating another car. ALL THIS PLUS A KID IN THE CAR! Due to the traffic we ended up alongside. As we approached he swerved into and out of our lane and when we were next to him he was giving all sorts of gestures! I pointed at his kid and shook my head. At this point my other half was calling the police. They took details of his behaviour, where we were etc and said they'd pass it to traffic. Doug tells me that it's likely nothing will come of it so if anyone sees a blue 5-series RL54 EE* on the roads near Leeds, give it a wide berth. The driver is a nutter. I nearly rang the police on Thursday when stuck in bad traffic on the M62 towards Leeds, Junction 26 or something, and this retard in a Kia/Ssangyong/KoreanThing people carrier tried to change lane into me. His n/s wing mirror was broken, his front n/s wheel looked like a spare that was the wrong size, and the side of the car looked like a 3yr old had filled it with bog. Gotta get car cameras. Doug say that I need to make a proper complaint against the driver and it'll probably only go to court if there is evidence from another party. Basically, his word against mine.
