JustGav
Well, needless to say I'm not sure how further the car would have gone....... http://www.slipstreem.net/pics/index.php?album=%2Fsupra%2F&image=Image028.jpg
Grazer
I aint seen it lower than that I'm still not convinced it's in the same place after replacing the dials, so now I panic whenever the light comes on!

SupraStar 3000
I have often thought the same question did anyone see Topgear a few weeks ago when they filled a car (think it was a jag) and drove to Scotland and back on one tank. I was impressed how far he was able to go with no fuel on the clock. The car had a few built in warning features like miss-fire and engine warning lights before the tank was totally empty. A guy at work ran his tank dry last week in a Diesel Astra and it cost him over £500 for the garage to feed the fuel into the engine again
GeordieSteve
Couldn't find a garage once... had the dial in the middle of the "E"
JustGav
And here is me thinking that E is Japanese for Enough, and F is F&^*king empty
Graham S
Christ, didn't think it was that bad, you fanny!! It must have been on empty before you left reading? So how many miles did you get from that tank?
JustGav
Calculating MPG is not something people do who own these things..... I gave up after I got about 200 miles out of a tank.....
roboldham
I've had the needle just a smidge below the middle bar of the E at which point the gas ran out - slipped into neutral, on a downhill fortunately and rolled into the local kwikfitty sort of place - nice chap went and got me some gas in a can. sinbad
Mine has went into the "E" a few times now. Not good for the blood pressure though when you're crossing busy junctions etc, waiting for it to die at any time.

Yeah IIRC it was the new Audi A8. Twin Turbo V8 diesel!!! He said he never went over 1200 rpm.
250horses
I always believed that if you let the petrol go down too low, you would suck up the cr*p from the bottom of the tank ie: dead pigeons, bits of metal and the like
lovatt
loads left mate, it goes well down into the "E"
Ian C
The middle bar of the E is as low as it'll go (you had loads left Gav ) as I ran it out of fuel once early on, pioneering a major difference between the J-spec and the UK spec - the size of the frickin' fuel tank I've seen the bottom of my fuel tank enough times and it's clean. The filter on the pump picks up any grot that it might be knocking about. Not that I'm saying it's a good idea to run it dry all the time, just don't think you'll need a flush of the system if you do -Ian
