carl0s
LOL, can't be from England 'cause he's black. Classic! Speaking of yanks, you just reminded me that I had a dream that I drove to Texas last night. Firstly we drove to 'Texas', but it only took us two hours and I was like "hmmm. that didn't seem long enough, you sure we're there already?", sp after asking somebody we realised that we'd actually landed in Texas, West Yorkshire. So then we eventually made it to the real Texas and it was just a mass of land everywhere for everyone. This chap we met was like "yeah this is all my place" (a huge desert basically), and I was really sad and upset that we're all so squashed-in in England. And that was that. JustGav
I remember going for dinner when I was around 8 with my a few of my father's friends (My dad at the time was head of electronics at Siemens SA).. so these were big wigs, and we went off to dinner with the CEO of Siemens AG to Europe's top restaraunt. I made the mistake of going in the American VP's car. It was all going well until his wife turned round and said what do you do for fun since you don't have any lakes in South Africa.. I JUST HAD to; (even though I was 8)...'Well, miss, the lakes aren't really the issue it is the lions and tigers that roam the street during the day, some times we even have to evacuate the schools because an elephant troop is passing through...' I reckon to this day she probably she believes it, and she was the wife of the top man of Siemens USA.... unbelieveable...and she didn't even know which cutlery to use and ask an 8yr old.. How far up are they pushing them??? Mind you in all defence of our american friends, I've used the lions and tigers thing with a few people.. I remember when I used to IRC in SA, they would ask me how I was gettting on line and my usual response was 'Well, I'm sat in my mud hut with a satelite dish'.... And this was with Brits as well... So you've been to Texas then, as your description is rather accurate, its like more than twice the size of Germany & full of farmland and oil pumpers. I've no idea where the vision came from, I've never been to the States, but in the dream I was very happy and it felt like a life changing thing going there In reality I'm afraid of the American government and their weird policies and anti-humanities, so I probably wouldn't go there. R Black
Joking aside the average yank is not taught about the rest of the world, they are taught to love America, and as its so vast with so much to do many dont feel the need to travel, as they can do everything there, oh & lots of Americans are surprised there are blacks in England. However most people i've met love America after they actually go there, but i would'nt make Texas your 1st port of call.
