Chris Wilson
Why, is it from the oil pump area?
Chris Wilson
I have yet to see a *uggered oil pump come out of an engine that's not also pretty *uggered. There's so much work in swapping the oil pump out that it's false economy not to have a look at the shells, and then it makes sense to look at the..... Tricky-Ricky
Also forgot to add to my previous post that one thing to remember is that the oil pump is the only component in the engine to see unfiltered oil all the time, oil pumps generally only have a coarse screen over the pick up so any debris in the oil or that gets into the sump goes straight to the pump, yes this can also include over diluted oil due to petrol contamination as Chris suggests, but due to these factors its completely possible for a Supra pump to wear enough for excess oil to be passed through the front of the pump and pressurise the seal and cause failure, without the pump being completely knackered! case in point is my pump was producing the same pressure as the new one that was fitted, so it is a good idea to examine your pump carefully to determine the reason for seal failure.
