RedM
Yes, all those chav scum village firework night holders should be jailed.... Organised events are a different matter. Apply for a license, buy direct from the manufacturers, proper health and safety etc etc. If only chav-scum like you could enjoy big displays rather than having your own 'events' with newsagent firework sets in your 10x10 gardens at 04:30 in the f*cking morning. Chris Wilson
A guy in the pub makes them as a hobby, he's going to make a HUGE banger that he reckons will blow a big tree stump out of the ground. We'll see...I must admit the small bangers he makes put commercial ones to shame, but they are probably a bit dodgy, safety wise. Other than that I haven't bought a firework since I was about 12 It's rampant consumerism, burning money with no long term result

miko_supra
Ever wondered what happens to the large 3ft long pieces of wood being thrown into the air with explosives attached to them? my dad's porsche found out a few years back and it left a big ol' dent in its bonnet...DOH! and with all these bits of exploding wood in the air, all the people beneath within range are all looking up! juanchan
Has anyone ever been in Switzerland on 31st July-1st August? 1st Aug is their "National Day" and they go absolutely mental the night before. When we were there, I was surprised to not hear about any avalanches the next morning. It was, for want of a better word, awesome. I'd love to go back there again for it. My dad used to live just outside of Lausanne. We went into the town 'cos there was like a carnival type thing going on and we went home for fear of 3rd degree burns. People were letting off fireworks in the street, very scary. We watched the cool display from the balcony instead.

It was kinda scary during the day of the 29th with everyone letting off some serious looking fireworks in the streets, but in the evening with the proper organised fireworks it was incredible. We were near Lauterbrunnen(sp), so being in a steep sided valley really enhanced the audio effects
supra steveo
none although the thought has gone through my head to get some rockets and a bit of drain pipe to RPG the tramps that go through my bin on a night time

The fireworks were reflected in it, amazing. It was excellent for watching storms from the window too.

Although I was surprised by how hot it used to get during the summer there, away from the mountains it was like Greece! I can still remember years ago, being there in my parents new car. It had no aircon, BUT, it did have a thermometer. No aircon and being 37 degrees out was not a fun journey! And in the same holiday there's a pic of me, my mum and my sister stood in a heavy snowstorm. It's a great country. A bit expensive, but I like it. It is expensive, but there is so many gorgeous places to see - mountains and poppy fields and vineyards and lakes and weirdly bears - although that's a bit strange. Should we stop thread hi-jacking now?!

Should we stop thread hi-jacking now?! I did think that myself, but no thread police have turned up yet! I've not seen any bears there, yet... I'm definitely more a mountain and lake holiday person than a sit on a beach person. Not that I've been on holiday for 3 years! Well, one snowboarding holiday doesn't really count as a relaxing week! The bears are in the capital, Bern. It's quite cruel really, they're like some kind of mascot but in a big pit thing at the city entrance, very strange! The day we went there it was -10, just a tad cold. My dad told my sister and I to take 'warm' clothing. Of course, we thought an extra jumper would do it. You know that really annoying look that dads give like 'I told you so'.
