Babe
Something funny going on with my Sup (stock TT)... Getting around 80 miles to half a tank around town, used to get 120. Any ideas what's going on?
Steve
Maybe the 02 sensor needs cleaning/replacing.

Babe
Maybe the 02 sensor needs cleaning/replacing. My mate in Florida just suggested that, was checked earlier in the year and was fine, hope it hasn't gone, definitely something screwy going on. tyre pressure or geo setup? Tyre pressure is fine, pretty hot on checking that. What's 'geo'? Cold mornings use more fuel too... Not that much, surely! It's half as much again as usual! What does anyone else with a stock TT auto get to half a tank?
grahamc
the geometery, camber, toe, castor, etc... wheel alignment
juanchan
What does anyone else with a stock TT auto get to half a tank? I don't drive her all that often, so when I do, fuel consumption is usually low on my priority list. I get about 250-300 from a tank usually though. Not sure if that helps! grahamc
I used to get 200 kilometers to a tank, then it mapped properly.
turbonut
Could it be running too rich?? I'd still check the sensor yourself, i don't trust garages especially being a female they really take the p@ss, I know i've been there Its easy to remove and clean, leave it in lemon juice for 6 hours or overnight, you'd be surprised how much gunge comes off even when it looks relatively clean. Hope you get it sorted anyway, Linda x
lexsum
What does anyone else with a stock TT auto get to half a tank? I get about the same around town ~80 - it sucks but i knew that when i got the car.
The Restorer
mmm... UK auto but I was getting 160+ miles to 40 litres. In Ireland at the moment and do much shorter journeys so get 120 miles for 40 litres. How are you measuring your half a tank. Like, I'll put in 40 litres when the light comes on or is in the low region and get pretty consistent figures that way.

Guest mk47
I usually get around 120 miles to half a tank (going by gauge being in middle) but I usually fill up if the red light comes on straight away. Very rarely let it go past the first line though, if it ever reaches there i start panicking
Markie
In the winter I would expect milage to suffer a tiny bit but nothing drastic. How does it drive and tick over? If tick over is lumpy and sometimes while under accelration it seems to miss or loose power then I think it would deffo be the sensor. I have found that only Toyota genuine ones last long. I have tried cheaper replacments before and it did not last long at all.
Babe
It always to do 120 miles to half a tank round town (150 on a run). I'm reading it by what's on the guage on the dashboard. Gonna try and take it to Whifbitz but they're not open weekends, can't really wait until xmas... Anyone recommend a garage Luton way? Marty
I get about .. 160miles to half a tank (45litres) of tescos super. Thats with 570bhp Although the uk tanks are slightly bigger (10litres) than the jap spec. Check your o2 sensor and then go from there

letmeshowyou
How was the sensor tested? I can't imagine that's a straightforward job! If it's old, I'd change it as matter of course anyway. Mine paid for itself within a few months!
