Trig
Never done it before, im really nervous. Im a gas engineer, ive been at the current company 3 years now, been happy for 2.5 of them (working on a good area with good people) but the last 6 months theyve been fooking me about(sending me all over london/doing crappy jobs etc. went for an interview yesterday at another company and they offered me the job there and then (said i came highly recommended ) More money, better prospects etc. Should i be nervous/worried? Babe
Go for it... make sure you have their offer in writing before you hand your notice in though!
Supragal
Yes Trig, make sure you have it in writing before handing in your notice!!! Honestly, i've seen it happen so often. You think handing in your notice will be awkward, I promise you withdrawing your resignation will be!!!! Congrats though!
jamesmark
It is only handing in your notice, not exactly difficult. Your notice only needs to be 2 lines long. Wait till you try and withdraw it.
caliAl
I handed in my notice on Monday and was feeling the same as you, but now it’s all done with I’m looking forward to starting my new job. Just hand it in and don’t look back. At the end of the day they probably would not have a problem making you redundant.

Trig
i guess another thing im worried about is going from getting paid weekly to monthly. Also i took my ACS (gas exams) 3 months ago, they made me sign a paper to say if i left within a year id have to pay them back (a cool £1K) Hopiong my new employer will pay them. Trig
Dont worry, my mate works for the company as well and apparently he tells me since yesterday the bosses have been singing my praises and cant wait for me to start.
Dave F
Mate I was so nervous when I handed my notice in at my previous workplace, I wrote the letter and put it on the bosses desk before he came in. Only thing was I did'nt state who it was from. I did'nt get any grief from my old workmates though.......MUCH!!!! Good luck in your new job thogh mate. marbleapple
Dont worry, my mate works for the company as well and apparently he tells me since yesterday the bosses have been singing my praises and cant wait for me to start. Doesn't mean anything until it is in paper....might it not be worth waiting until you know for certain? Good luck though... handing in notice isn't that bad. Its quite refreshing and you get a wonderful feeling of freedom!

ozz
I left a job with British Airways due to getting messed around. Was great telling my boss that the management team had destroyed any wish I had to work in I.T. Supposed to work 4 weeks notice, I told them I would do 2 weeks as a comprimise or they could stick it. Luckily I had an interview for a much better job the next day and was offered the job on the spot, huge relief as I had just bought a house! Best of luck with the new job, never takes long to fit in and you'll probably feel all motivated!
Trig
Cheers guys, feel a lot better now. Gonna take a chance and hand it in. to be honest im gonna be leaving them a bit in the lurch so they would probably be happy to overturn my resignation. but im 100% confident that the new firm wont stitch me up
Jive
Hi Trig Like everyone else has said, good luck and hope everything works out for the new company Hopefully see you Halo soon but for the last 2 days I've been working late and when I say late I mean 2 and 3 oclock in the morning late
Supra ST Myster
do you have to give 1weeks notice? as i will be in the same situation as you very soon and really not looking forward to it all, as they see me as quite an asset and i will be leaving them in the lurch as there are plenty of jobs comming up and it will be something they are not expecting, plus only have to give a weeks notice.. i do feel bad for it but i gotta think about myself really..
