Considering that you will gain around 80k/year as a 1st officer or 100k/year as a captain (Ryanair quotes) - I would say you will pay it off very quick :)

Be intrested to know where you got those figures from? A Mate of mine finished going though his comercial training at he end of last year and was not too woried about the 60K costs as he was expecting salaries the same as you have said. He was out of work for 6 months after completeing his training and eventually got a Job with said company - pay is abit less at 40K for 1st officer!

Those figures was taken straight from Ryanair site... Oh they changed it to "up to" now :)

Am with American at Gatwick currently taken 3 months off to work for World Airways in Europe if you have a A&P some good money to be made over here

Ahh yes the joys and money of contracting..:)

I heard some interesting rumors recently of contacting borescope people getting paid still money an hour, always sounds tempting.

Etihad want tech's for 20 pound an hour contracting in abu dhabi. Lovely weather all year round and tax free ;)

But SleasyJet will train you up to be a commercial Pilot. Think you need PPL to begin with (not sure, possibly not) and you do all your unpaid training in new zealand.

You basically take a 50k loan out with Easyjet and then your their bitch for 5 odd years earning poor money paying it off through your wages i do believe. (all on the website probs)

Well a guy at work, has gone off to do it and he has a PPL. he went off to new zealand about a month ago, where he will stay for about a year flying single and twin engined island hoppers getting his hours up etc and doing exams. Here they pay for everything inc accommodation. all you gotta do is fund food and drink.

then after that you go back to UK for about 8 months where you do more exams, flight simulator training (and sitting in on actual flights too i'm guessing)

Then if they are happy with you, your done and in the job. He said he will be getting paid about £22k ish. But obviously once your loan is paid off you can go where ever you like and get your approvals on all sorts of a/c and earn much much more, which is apparently what everyone does with Easyjet, but i'm pretty sure they've got their costs covered and expect this.

I only know this from what i've been told by the guy that went, so it might not all be that accurate. But 10,000 people applied for it this year and there were only 10-15 places!!!

(And once your a pilot, you can bag any hostie you like i'd imagine...it's like poon on a plate :D)

22k is that it?

Yeah but its the only company that are doing this scheme. and they also take money out for your loan aswell. so before money for the loan its about £35k id imagine and you gotta pay that off over 4-5 years (thats how they keep you with the company). The money goes up the longer your with a company. so when your a co pilot its probably £30-50k then captain its £60-100kish

Holding a PPL, it will cost you no less than £58K and average 9 mths training in the UK to get an EASA approved CPL.

You could go to Nevada/USA or Jeddah/Saudia (cheapest good places about now) and half that cost.. but probably need about £7K to convert to EASA certification on completion.

Then you will need a Type rating... a B737/3(classic) course will run you £16.5K... A320 family = £18K

Very few companys offer you a Type course unless they bond you!

An average EasyJet Junior F/O is on around £34K all in(sector pay and all allowances included). Average Left seat is £58K again all in.

Senior F/O's average £45K and Senior Capt £67K(not many left)

Ryanair have loads of F/O's on £22K, most Eastern Europeans. These guys are also bonded as Ryanair took them on with feck all hrs and experience.. they have also given them Type courses etc.

My advise, if you can afford to do it.. go for it, Pilots are in demand worldwide and if you get a good break then you will have the most fecking easy job, with good money and good work respect!
