grahamc
Difference in opinion there - I believe it just makes him look like a spoilt child and a bad sportsman. Thats very possible - if he walks away thre could be some financial implications. I would love the see him at another team next year, renault ideally for two reasons. He can race Hamilton all day long and no one can say anything about it or worry about team orders and Renault's car this year was crap so I only hope for much of the same next year and he can get his arse kicked. Agree to disagree... Not the best way to behave though, but they have both been trading "blows" all year. I think that is part of it, that Ron was telling him that Hamilton needs to win in order to maintain the championship race, and Alonso told him F*** OFF. imi
Why is everyone giving Alonso so much stick? Do you know what is happening behind the scenes at MacLaren, doubtful. Maybe he does want out of MacLaren, maybe for good reason.... what is happening behind the scenes???

T2 MSW
but he was, he had the whole 'the team is not backing me' saga going on, this is great I feel like its national get at Alonso day

imi
why all of a sudden? He was not like that in Renault. oh yeah, he was fighting for no1 spot there (who was the 2nd driver)... PMSL think someone forgot to tell him that McLaren currently hold and have always held an equal driver policy.

How many times have you been told one thing and then seen the contract and it been something very different. I have, about 4 - 5 times while buying 1 house... Alex
This all started because Alonso made a lot of assumptions. Bit of backgroud; Fernando used to dream of driving for McLaren, when he was in the lower formule he would get out of the car after a win and ask if Ron (Dennis) had phoned (to offer him an F1 drive). Ron never did but Briatore did...and gave him his deserved F1 break. The rest is well known, Ron knew Kimi and Juan Pablo wern't for McLaren for much longer, it made perfect business sense to go and get the current world champion... Alonso jumped at the chance and I don't think he knew really about Lewis. So then the season started, FA was the leader in pre season testing as he brought his wealth of experience...he ASSUMED that he would be given No.1 status and that LH would have to be his b1tch for the season (which to be honest is the smart way to play any team - Ferrari make it work very well!). But McLaren stuck to it's equality system, much to the disgust and I'm sure surprise of FA, who would have been right to throw his toys out of the pram, if he'd asserted himself better earlier (maybe the tyre change was the key to LH's good start, but either way...). I think he thought they'd change their minds once the season was underway...after all FA was desperate to be there weren't they desperate to have him?!? FA basically couldn't understand how a rookie could be given equal status with a reigning World Champion....and to some degree I can understand his feelings, I just don't agree with his methods of complaining. There is definately room to fix things within the team. But Alonso must learn (to become a real champion) that he must beat his team-mate in a fair fight. McLaren want to win, they don't care which driver gets the better result, this is because they covet the Constructors title, not the Drivers. Alonso, can stay, but he must learn to control his mouth as it will have a de-motivating repercussion on the factory which will ultimately lead to his own downfall, as they won't produce the goods if they think they are doing it for someone who couldn't care less about their efforts. Drivers are selfish, it's a necessity of the job...but they need to know when to take one for the team.

Gordon F
think someone forgot to tell him that McLaren currently hold and have always held an equal driver policy. Not since '88 they havent. The whole season has been a cock waving exercise for Ron Dennis in that both their car and driver development programme is so fantastic that it can beat the reigning 2 times World Champion in similar machinery. Alonso is right to feel aggrieved at his treatment this year - you couldn't imagine Michael Schumacher accepting it, could you? I'm a big Lewis fan and know him well from GP2 last year, but am pleased that McLaren have lost everything this year through total arrogance. (and a couple of doses of incompetance thrown in :-) )
