Guest Martin F
Not sure what will happen to the pump if your fluid runs out. If you can't regularly check your supply bottle then the best thing you can do is hook up a float switch in the bottle to an indicator on the dash somewhere. Set this at such a level that when the switch is activated you need to top up the bottle soon, but it won't have run dry.
Digsy
If they are anything like washer pumps then I dont think they are designed for continuous running, especially when there is no fluid going through them. I've only had one of them out on a bench to play with and I know it got very hot quite quickly when I was buzzing it up dry.

Alex
Just top it up once a month, as its a mist you don't use a lot and it only fires after .8 bar...so running on t1 and cruising uses none. I have no level indicator I just top it up every so often
Gaz Walker
AFAIK the pump will be dead after pumping air for 3 minutes. You could have checked this with the aquamist site but there bandwidth allocation has been exceeded... I am pretty sure its 3 mins tho from memory. Cheers Gaz. THOR Racing
The ERL pumps use the water they pump as lubricant and cooling. So running with just air is not good for them. You don't have to go for a level sensor from ERL, Farnell do them and they are cheaper. Exactly the same bit of kit. Also Farnell (or RS components) will do LED's. Also if you look carefully they also do LEDs that operate fom 12V directly so you don't even have to buy a resistor. I run a couple of bi-coloured LEDs. Tells me when 1: The power to the pump is ON (GREEN) (no LED=OFF) 2: The pump has been activated from the pressure switch (RED LED) 3: The water level is too low changes from a GREEN LED to ORANGE.
