GeordieSteve
Hi all, I've just been looking at an Evo 4 today from a friend of a friend. He had the engine replaced not so long ago with apparently another Evo 4 engine. The idle seems to get a little lumpy and noticed that written on the top on the inlet manifold, is "EVO VI". It may well be possible that he's been sold and EVO VI engine instead of the IV. Is there any way to tell (engine codes etc.) what the engine is? Taa! JamieP
Dont know anything about codes but the 4 has a weaker engine than the rest so hopefully it is a 6 engine, have a read about on the MRL;) http://www.lancerregister.com/home.php
DannoSupra
Engine's in Evo 4,5 and 6 are the same (could be wrong) And what most people do is change inlet, throttle body, acutator off evo 8 etc etc
AJI
the evo 4 ,5 and 6 engines are all slightly different in a number of ways but they are each an evolution over the other. But based on the same engine. 4G63 is the engine code.

GeordieSteve
hmmmm so no real way to tell what the engine is? Bit of a strange idle on it. Didn't know if it was the incorrect ECU, a cheapy BOV on there or the fact one of the pipes from the actuator doesn't go anywhere. Need to have a good look I think Any more info AJI?
