Charlotte
We were sent an email last week from HR to say we could opt to have a flu jab if we wanted. I think this is an excellent idea (saves getting the germs from people that insist on coming to work whilst ill). The only problem is the jab is tomorrow and I seem to already have a cold/flu which has started today. Grrr. Can I still have the jab? SimonB
It's not a cold jab, it's flu. You'd know about it if you had 'flu, it's completely different to your normal cold that people pass off as flu. The twenty quid test is supposed to be the way of telling if you've got flu. The idea is somone drops 20 quid on the floor, if you've got a cold you'll get up and pick it up, if it's flu you'll leave it!
Muffleman
I've had the realy 'flu' once, and I'll not forget it

I wasn't asking for a diagnosis about what I had currently, just whether I'd be able to have the jab with my current germs.
RedM
I once had the 'proper' Flu and I couldn't do FA for about a week. I lay in bed p155ing into a bucket and couldn't get up to empty it. Awful.
Missile
I don't see why not. The person giving the jab would be the bEst person to ask. I HATE NEEDLES.....

It won't do you any harm, however your immune system is already busy dealing with your current problem so the vaccine may not work as well as it should. Charlotte
Are you over 65 Charlotte??? To be honest I only had one dose of flu last year. But if it means I don't get it this year then I'm willing to be mistaken for an OAP.

Class One
I would say to anyone, that if you are offered the opportunity of a free flu jab, then take it. It's still a lottery as to whether you get it or not, but it can reduce your chances. Flu can kill, especially those who may have had a supressed immune system, the very young and the elderly. AlanM
Please note - I am in the supressed immune system category, not the elderly

Awful. nice, erm too much information??? I've had flu twice, if anything can get rid of that feeling of being repeatedly steam rollered, thrashed, tortured and some blighter crushing my skull whilst sticking an assortment of very sharp and large knives in my gut......id go for it Better safe than sorry. Just one thing though, isnt it supposed to immunise you against last years strain not the current morphed version of this current delightful season??? or is that a myth?
