LCD TV - high pitched humming

razza

Recommended Posts

Got a Panasonic LCD TV and it's just started making some noises which I'm not liking...

I've had it a for over a year now so the warranty's run out:(

It's an intermittent high pitch noise/fuzz coming from the rear top right (looking at front of TV)

The picture's fine, I've unplugged the DVD and BTVision box thinking they were the cause, but it's still happening. Any ideas? Is this going to cost me a small fortune to repair?:(

Great, thanks, appreciate it. I got it from Digital direct April '06, model no. TX-32LX32lxd60.

It seems to be coming from an area at the top inside at the back, which is illuminated in blue, with a hazard sign on it (from what I can see through the rear of the TV), unless that's the issue, can't remember seeing the blue light before....

bollocks, not a good read:( quote:

"I get continuous loud buzzing in normal and auto viewing modes. In cinema viewing mode it is quieter, and on dynamic viewing mode it is quiet until the picture changes, ie. some sort of screen ratio change like going from a programme to adverts, or to the electronic program guide. Needless to say, I am viewing in Dynamic mode. Even in this mode where the noise is limited to transitional moments and therefore less distracting, it is still annoying enough to spoil the viewing experience. For the first week or so, I assumed this was a normal but irritating phenomenon with LCD TV's, but when I found that certain viewing modes gave rise to continuous buzzing, I realised it must be a serious fault and not part of normal operation. What I have read here goes some way to confirming my suspicion."

That's what I'm now finding.....outside of warranty, what's my options? If it's an issue they know about surely they should replace, or are they not obliged to do anything? Hindsight's a wonderful thing, should've got that extended warranty...
