Be careful with A-Plan. Yes they are cheap but if you have any change of vehicle during your year you will get shafted sideways like i did.

I've used A-Plan for a number of years all my cars are with them now very competitive :) But as pointed out here I changed one of my cars two months into the policy and my additional premium was about 200% more than the original :(

So I was shafted too.

Ash you quote sound ok considering the 'open' claim...

...its worth giving it a go i pay £650 a year full n.c and protected and can drive as many cars as i like fully comp

I pay half that without any fraud involved (through SKY lol...)

As for your 'fully comp' cover driving any car, just wait until you make a claim and see...

Do you think they're stupid or incompetent? They're in business to make money, getting your misrepresented premiums works fine for their bottom line. They just won't pay out later, and do you for lying if you get fresh.

Wake up.

Did you tell them about the accident you had recently? I wouldn't be surprised if it was that making your quote quite a lot.

No as I made no claim against my policy and no claim has been made against me yet, so far as Im concerned there is no risk to them....

Well some good news on this, phoned A Plan in B/Stoke, they came up with £1100, bah I thought, so next phoned A Plan that Homer listed a number for in another thread, supposedly specialise in imports or something, but before they came back with a quote, Adrian Flux came back with £890, better I thought, but then this A Plan division came back £720, sweet......

But the funniest thing is, my current policy is with Ensign through Sky, who gave me a renawal quote of £2900, the A Plan quote as he told me on the phone is with, yep, you guessed it, Ensign.....WTF !!!!

How can the same company be so different through different brokers, I said to him its obvious insurance companies dont stick to guide line and make it up as they go along....Anyway another company matched it through this A Plan division so I said I would rather give my money to someone else other then Ensign, just for the stupidly high renewal quote.....

I can get the lad's name I spoke with if you want, he advised me to go with the other company over Ensign due to having inside knowledge and seeing what hassles people have......he was very helpfull so I would like to put people his way, we had a good talk......he will be phonning me back in the morning.....

What do you mean ?

We went into great detail over the mods, whats listed, mod for mod replacement or cash instead, come to paying out for the whole car, they dont do agreed values but who does these days, but they know its a modified car and providing I have photo's etc to back it up....and future mods are ok, and cosmetic, they wont charge me anymore, just power increases.....

As above (posted a few days ago), me and another guy posted about A-Plan. If you decide to change your car at any time throughout the policy they will screw you. I changed my car after 6 months and the quote for my replacement car was less than competetive (bloody outragous) so i decided to leave them. When i told them i was looking for the rest of my premium back they said i was only entitled to 10%. Turns out that changing car meant i got £200 back for the remaining 6 months wheras if i had cancelled i would have got less than £150 even though 6 months of the premium was £850 (12 months 1700).

Hope that explains what i mean well enough lol.

See this is probably down to the actual insurance company you're insured with, the company Im through, which escapes me now, if I cancel will only charge me on a pro-rata basis, another reason he told me to go with them over Ensign, they stagger theirs or something....

Cool, sounds good. Make sure you see it in writing though as it was the A-Plan agents that told me that before even taking my details. I just told them i wanted to cancel, they asked why, i told them because they were ripping me off then they went on to say about the clause.

Might even have changed anyway. It was 2 years ago that happened to me.

my supra is insured with sky same price as A plan quoted, £500

my honda crx is insured with A plan £240 comp, sky wanted £320 tpft

my4x4 mondeo costs £300 fully comp protected.

its a pity i could not get a policy to cover them all without loosing money for swapping

to one company.

i can only drive one at a time

Have u tried admiral ;)

Thats who i am with and i saved a fortune. I stuck my dad on the policy and it brought it down to £309 from last Friday till July the 22nd (when the policy ends)

Considering my age/points etc, i think i got a bargain. A lot of the discount is thanks to the multicar policy.

yep :(

Nick, is that what they told you? I think these insurance companies make it up as they go along . . . I'm 26, i've got a single and they insured me?? I have been with Sky since I got the Supra, and everything is declaired, my policy came out at £1070 including the agreed value this year? I have got FNCD though and 3 points on my licence.

I don't even start to try to comprehend how they work these things out???

They must make it up, how can Ensign give me a renawal quote of £2900, but then give me another quote through a different broker for £720......
