Just been reading a post about the HKS mushroom filter (which I have on my car) and how it is bad for the engine and can let dirt etc get into it

I do not want to go stock, but is there an air filter that would be better.

Looking at a long K&N filter...

Use an Apexi. I read the test where they tested a blitz, hks ,k&n and apexi. The apexi won the filitiration test with the k&n second. HKS and BLITZ came last.

Guess it shows you can take these tests with a pinch of salt as well, the test I saw Apexi came top with Blitz next. I went with a Blitz due to Apexi not doing a filter for the VVT-i at the time.....

does not not depend on the filter element, hks have like 4 or 5 different ones, road wet, raod dry, race, extra thick or something and some others i seen them on a site, i was looking at one, the race one i believe which is to be changed after every track day.

i have the hks one, dont seem to bad, needs a new element tho, the difference will be miner.
