Well sounds amazing, best of luck to you! I've got a lot of respect for people who take control of their lives and are not afraid to take chances to get what they want.

Out of interest, what type of capital do you think you'd need to be able to live comfortably out there? One of the properties on your link was 5 houses for less than 300k, seems like a great investment.

:p

I hope to have around 700000 dollars to use; I will owe UK nothing but will keep money back here and live on interest

at first. You would need about 1500 USD month living expenses at most but that includes cost of a maid etc.

I could swing that in 5 years if I chose to retire then, but I may stick around. I like being in the Air Force at the moment. Great people and the travel doesn't suck. Ok. Sometime it does but it evens out.

see you there:p

You joke, but I'm not kidding. You sure you want a neighbor who drinks as much as I do?

All is good here my friend - well apart from the right hand but even that is healing nicely. ;)

Those places you are looking at seem superb. My humble abode here pails (or is that pales) into insignificance.

:)Aye, I was sorry to here about your accident - still you dont need to hold a hairbrush :p

I cant wait to get on the ground and see more; the properties are of a very high standard but as you have said got to be patient and try areas out.

tempting. I guess you have had many holidays there, so you know about it and have researched it?

I'd be to scared to bum out and do that. Maybe its something one does as one gets older and fed up of UK weather etc. But with house prices here, and if you have capital and don't care much for UK lifestyle.. why not?

been there and looked, tbh couldnt fault the place BUT I will go with intention of renting for 6 months; trying different areas tbh nothing to lose; money will go in bank/investments and dont forget luckily I have another house oop North. In truth I have spent 1/2 working life abroad and dont see much on offer here right now. Having said that I have no axe to grind and will not be breaking ties with UK. This is about spending time with the missus and doing some serious relaxing for a few years and seeing how it pans out. CR is not a hard place; everything is there; people are lovely, forests, beaches etc are unreal. But it is different, hot and you shouldnt go if you cant keep an open mind
