Electric Aerial

Big Mark

Recommended Posts

Finally fitted my stereo today only to find that electric aerial only goes up half way and is somewhat wobbly.

Want to replace it with a new one.

Probably just get a universal one off ebay with a black mast (black car)

Will this be straight forward to fit or could I have problems? The ones on ebay do seem to have more wires that the standard Supra one has.

Thanks. I've just got to find somewhere that sells them now.

As the standard one is only 2 wires and has an external relay would I not be able to fit the universal ones which have built in relays and 3 wires (permanent live, switched live and earth) or could I just wire the 2 lives together and be ok?

My RMA 852 arrive today and I wish I had bought an OEM from Toyota.

None of the adapters are a good fit and I can't even get it to work. The OEM has an aerial lead to it and then 2 wires plug into it. One green the other red with light dots.

The RMA 852 has the aerial lead plus red, green and black. Which are permanent live, switched live and earth.

It looks like the 2 OEM wires are probably just earth and a live that comes on for a few seconds only in order to get the aerial up and maybe again at the end to get it to come down.

I did manage to get the aerial up but then couldn't get it down, though it did allow me to see that I have about 10mm of clearance between it and the boot lid when up.

Am I going to have to remove the drivers seat and bypass the relay?
