To some extent, yes - FWHP always is. The point of before / after plots is that they will use the same figures, so you can see whether there is a real gain.

 

A one off reading (even without mods) is of limited use - although useful for comparing the power of different cars.

 

i see! but, still on the plus side some "know nought" will still cream there pants when i go to sell them my car and show them the dyno sheet, just better make sure your not around ;) cheers for the explanation

It depends on your setup, but I will say that it will open up the top end. You know that drop off at higher rpm's? That's gone.

 

The cams specs are:

 

268 advertised duration

 

228 duration @ .050

 

9.14mm lift

 

The price is $425usd per cam if individually purchased, $375usd per cam if sent as an in/ex set. With the GBP kicking the USD's ass right now, it works out very well for the UK members. The cores are required, and shipping back to the UK will be extra. That's the long and short of it.

an n/a is fast enuf if you know how to drive it, gt a friend wiv a tt and over 2 laps of a track i smaked his ar*e, the cars only as gd as the organic bit driving it. and all supras a real supras purley because ther so damn sexy

 

Think the organic bit must of been a bit of a poo driver to lose to an N/A :blink: and i'm not slating N/A's because I have one (although planning on going TT in the new year :D)

dont have the part number but it states the following, also has the exhaust one's aswell.

 

Toyota 2JZ-GTE, INLET 256 degree, 8.7mm lift, These products cannot be installed on VVT-i camshaft side.

Toyota 2JZ-GTE, INLET, 264 degree, 9.0mm lift, These products cannot be installed on VVT-i camshaft side.

Toyota 2JZ-GTE, INLET, 272 degree, 9.3mm lift, These products cannot be installed on VVT-i camshaft side.

lol, your saying a tt is more economical??!

 

fuel consumption, under comparable conditions (not full throttle, as the TT will be making much more power)

Steady 80mph on the motorway is a good and practical example. The TT will show slightly higher mpg.

 

read the threads on tts and how turbos work.

anyone who claims a tt is cheaper to run than a na is talking from their rectums.

My posterior may be making more sense than self-delusion from some else's larynx.

Just because we don't like some statements doesn't make them less true.

I think this thread has turned into why turbo's are SO much better than NA's.

 

The lad asked what he could spend some cash on to get some more power out of his N/a how ever small the improvement may be. He did not ask should I get a TT. :rolleyes:

 

Think some of the comments made on here have been quite petty and insulting, thought this was the SUPRA OWNERS CLUB, didn't know when I got my NA that this meant "proper supras" (in your oppinion)!!:tongue:

 

Thanks to the fellas who posted up useful information regarding improving performance which will help me when I decide to spend some money. FYI this money will not be spent getting a TT as I do not have a money tree at the bottom of my garden for when my turbo f**cks up!!

 

Curious to know whether anyone has any figures regarding around town fuel consumption, as the only comparisons have been made doing between 70-80 mph, which I never get anywhere near on a daily basis.

I'm curious - which post had the useful info regarding performance improvements? The general view is that NA performance is not easily improved - and in fact to do so, you'd need a bigger money tree than you would to replace a couple of turbos.

Carlos has it right, those cams are for the turbo motor only. For a camshaft to work with the NA motor, it will have to incorporate the distributor gear.

It completely depends on your individual motor and it's condition/supporting mods. I will say this, though. I guarantee though that the power drop-off mid rpm that's usually experienced will be gone. The power will carry all the way to redline. The cams are much more agressive than stock cams and give the car a whole new personality.

That's kind of why I asked. I thought that cams usually supported other mods.

 

I don't find a power drop off mid rpm with my car, but perhaps I'm not sensitive enough.

 

What effect do the cams have on idle?
