Bobbeh
Yeah, great find, cheers Michael. Would make a great Linux box if some of you were thinking about giving that a go.
Pete
We're Dell resellers - just checking with them about this. Seems like a superb deal.
Pete
It's definately a genuine offer with people buying them in silly quantities. Hopefully not all gone! We're going for as many as we can get.
michael
Looks like anyone who hasn't already picked up a bargain might be too late now.
TazUK
Yeah, they've taken down the offer now.
Pete
1100 units shifted in an hour. It apparently maxed out Dells email boxes with enquiries for it. We didn't get any
Gamer
Snooze you loose, I picked up 4 (was limited to 2 per person) With the help of a friend of course. Got 2 single 2.4ghz's and 2 single 2.8'ghz's Take out the processors and ram from one of each and add them to get 2 decent dual servers and I can flog the rest of the bits to recoup some of the outlay. Comes in handy as I have a dedicated server business, should have seen me trying to scramble up some more "friends" to get a few more... Gamer
Yup, I received one of the letters as described. I phoned up Dell, which of course means that you speak to some twat in India at a call center. They basically said that it was a mistake on the website. Naturally I told them they were full of $hit. I also sent out a very colorful e-mail telling them that I would now never get anymore products from Dell again as my confidence in them is out the door. I think it was as lame attempt to get some sales at full price as some people might get one of thier normal offers anyway because they were ready to get a nice new server. Needless to say I am very pissed off with them

Gamer
whats so good about it? is the celeron version worth buying? You can always put another chip in it if you like (Up to a P4 3.6ghz), I would suggest buying the chip elsewhere though... I will flog the celeron on E-Gay and put another chip in
CJ
Can I use it at home as a PC? Or is it only useful to my company as a server?
